After all these years I feel like I should already know but with so many changes and reading so many posts, I feel really unsure about what might be the best way to go for an upcoming 12 night trip in June. Forgive me if there is an obvious answer in advance.....

So I need 5 tix total - 4 adult and one child. We do not feel compelled to go to a park every day and can live without hopping. Probably would like 5-7 park days minimum. So, what would be the best financial choice given some of the following:
  • We will probably rent a car and would drive to parks except MK.
  • We are DVC and staying the whole time on points.
  • Could take or leave a day or two at a water park. Kids like it and it could break things up. I think I read that we will be there for 2 of the "special" events at Typhoon Lagoon during our stay. I just was not sure if you needed admission (reg ticket) to attend the event.
  • I do not think we will return again within a year. We usually do and buy APs which is why I feel so clueless in having to choose what to buy.
  • Don't do DDP but will probably buy TIW.
So, do I buy the 25th Anniversary ticket special by month end with PH, or buy a gold AP, buy multiday ticket through Disney paying with discounted Disney GCs or through UT??? :confused3

Buy the 25th anniversary special which is at the old price and includes a free day using discounted gift cards. No need to get the hoppers.

I just went through this for an upcoming trip and found Undercover Tourist was a better price than the 25 anniversary ticket IF you did not want the hopper.

So if we do decide to want to PH or go to water parks then the 25th special otherwise go to UT.

Can someone tell me about parking costs?

If you are staying at any Disney resort, DVC or the Disney Hotels, there is no charge for parking. If you are not staying at Disney it's $22 a day now to park.

Ok I was not sure about that. For some reason Inthought it was limited to APs.

When did it go up to $22? Last I heard, it was $20 for the Mai. Parking lots and $25 for valet.

With how easy it is to obtain discounted Disney gift cards, UT hasn't been competitive for tickets for years; regardless of purchasing hoppers or not. So much so, I already purchased next years tickets too, directly from Disney using discounted gift cards at the DVC special price with the free day.

We were there in Feb and the signs had $22, we didn't need it as we were on site.

A Water Park AP costs $110 for adults, a bit less for kids. You could go to the water park every day, hit the theme parks a few times with UT tickets and not feel it too badly.

So since I originally posted my question, we still haven't committee which way to go with buying tickets.

Hate to be a pain but since ticket prices increased since I first posted and now DH is thinking we need 7-9 day park tickets + 1 water park day what you might think would be the best way to go? It sure if there are any tickets through UT still available at the old price available. The deadline for the DVC special is coming up.

Also I know it is pretty easy to add on to tickets when at WDW already purchased but I am confused as to how they calculate the difference if you bought tix at a discount or pre-price increase - can someone clarify?

TIA

UT has increased by now. The DVC special is still at the old pricing so it will be the best way for you to go.

If you bought tickets from a reseller like UT - the best way to add days is to use your tickets by entering the park first. By doing that when you go to upgrades or days to your ticket it will be bridged to current gate price. You should then only pay the difference from current price to whatever upgrade phi want. If you bought your tickets from Disney - they will only give you credit of the price you paid.
It seems to me the DVC 25th anniversary is best because if you by PH you get free water park tickets too.
