Ticket question

We are doing a Disney trip in August. The plan right now is to do a half day at Universal on the day we arrive. Stay at one of the Universal hotels for one night. Do another park day until 4 or 5. Then move to Disney that evening. We also want to do Volcano Bay later in the week. Right now they have a promotion for 2 free days when you buy a 3 day ticket. Do you think if we decide we want to park hop on the second day at Universal that we would be able to use one of those extra free tickets? It would be cheaper to not buy the park to park tickets and just use the free tickets that we wouldn’t otherwise use. The fine print says that the ticket is valid for five calendar days during an eight day period. So, I am not sure if that means we can’t use 2 tickets in the same day to different parks. I have tried to google it, but I haven’t had any luck finding the answer. Thanks!

You didn't post exactly what ticket option you're planning to purchase which is very important.

Base or park-to-park. Include a link to we can read the fine print as well.

Nope - If you want to go to both parks on the same calendar day, you'll have to buy park-to-park tickets. See the Terms & Conditions for your ticket type:

"The 2-Park 3-Day Base + 2-Days Free Promo Ticket Dated entitles one (1) guest admission to EITHER Universal Studios Florida OR Universal’s Islands of Adventure per day."

Disney & Universal are the same on this - you cannot use multiple days off a base ticket to park hop. You need a park hopper/ park-to-park ticket if you want to enter a 2nd park on the same day.

And doesn't that ticket need to specify Volcano Bay.

3) 3 park 3 day ticket $374.99

We are a group of 5 so that is a fairly significant savings between option 1 and 2. However, it seems like we can’t use one of those free day tickets to enter a different park if we want to hop parks.

This ticket will allow you to park hop and go to Volcano Bay. Several places sell them, just make sure all the wording is there.
