For those of you who go to Disney once a year, during the same month every year, do you buy AP every third year and go a week earlier the second year of your AP?

We seem to be falling into this travel category and I am trying to figure out what is the best way to buy tickets. I can't keep renewing because that will push us into an earlier month... Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

(Should have noted that we usually stay 8-10 nights)

The only way to justify the AP in that situation is to do just what you mention. If, for example, you go for 8 nights, you would need to go one year and then the next year have your trip end no later than one year from your arrival date the first year. That way you get two full trips of use and thus justify the cost of the AP over buying a hopper which expires after one trip.

When I used to go regularly in May and December, I did it that way. But I didn't renew, I waited for the next trip and bought a new one. That way I was only buying AP's about every 18 months.

For example:

Second week of May
First week of December
First week of May

New AP - Second week of December

The current difference between a new and renewal DVC AP is $70. What you should do is get the AP in alternate years.

So in year 1 you go late in one month. In year 2 you go early in the same month.

Then let the AP lapse.

In year 3 buy a new AP and go late in the month, in year 4 go early in the same month.

Etc.

We go once a year on average for about a week, but usually only 3-4 park days each trip. Best for us is to buy a 10 day non expiring ticket

I don't think I wrote it correct but that is what I was thinking. I knew you would know if I was overlooking something - thanks!
