Ok, my Son and I are staying at WDW and we're planning on going over to Universal for a day. I got on the Universal site to preorder tickets, thought we'd try and do it in a day. Priced out 2 park tp park tickets with express plus, My God In Heaven!!! 481.36 for a day at Universal!! Can this be true? Is this price right? I don't see what I can do different, I'm in shock. No park is worth this! We've done universal before, sure it's been 2 years ago but it wasn't near this price. Where can I get a better price or discount on tickets?
Sorry for the rant, but trying to do a vacation and not break the bank!

You can check USSSA.com and see if they have tickets for your dates. They won't have express on them but you can add that later at the park if you really think you need it.

Not sure why you have sticker shock. A one day parkhopper at WDW is $143, at DL is $150 and the one day park to park at Universal is $136.

It is your choice to add the express. It isn't a necessity.

796.00 for 6 days at WDW vs. almost 500.00 for a day at Universal.

Yep, but you are not following. The more days you spend at a park the cheaper it is. Both Universal and Disney are about the same price for a one day park hopper.

You can go to Universal for a whole year cheaper than you are doing Disney for 6 days.:thumbsup2

Take the Express Pass off and it will be a lot cheaper. You will have to wait in lines but you do that at Disney also.

1 day Disney park hopper for 2. $285.42
1 day Universal park hopper for 2. $289.68

These are with taxes.:)

Disney 6 days. $796.62
Universal Orlando flex 14 days. $681.56
Universal AP $559.98 Plus many discounts and offers.

Yes, Yes, I understand, the more days you stay the better the price. When you book the whole package at WDW for a week you just don't look at the individual price of each day, and I didn't, I guess I'm just looking to get a better deal on tickets to justify going to Universal for a day. But at 500.00 it's just not worth it.
Now that's just my opinion, so nobody get mad.

Also, Damo, thanks for that link!

4 day parkhopper WDW is $354 for one person
4 day park to park at Universal is $197

You can't compare a multi-day ticket to a single day ticket.

Universal annual pass is $279 for one person
WDW annual pass is $634 for one person

Here is the USSSA link http://store.usssa.com/Products/122-universal-orlando-park-tickets.aspx but you have to watch dates because they expire.

Sorry to butt in here, but can anyone buy tickets from that link or do you have to be a member of USSSA? I checked that link (we are going to Universal next month for 2 days) and those prices are great!
TIA for any info.

No ones mad.;)

As a FL resident I wish I could have both worlds to visit all parks, well if money would allow it. But we are in the same boat as you. It is very expensive to add another park for just a day or two. This is one of the reasons we only do Disney every few years with Universal.:thumbsup2

Anyone can buy. Again...watch the expiry dates. I see that there is one that expires end of this month and another that expires end of next month.

If you do a search on this forum, you'll see many people have reported back that they used the tickets with no issues whatsoever. All the tickets are marked YOUTH but that doesn't matter as people have reported.

Thank you! I'm off to buy tickets :goodvibes

Will they have tickets that expire at the end of July? Would you happen to know when those would go up for sale? Our trip is in July"

Don't think you'll need express anyway if u look at the crowd levels for early and mid week, also, if you're son is old enough you can do single rider lines if you happen on a long line here and there.

I honesty don't know. You'll have to just keep looking.

Suggestion - book one night at one of the on-site hotels, except Cabana bay, which doesnt' have the express pass perk.

That gives you 2 full days of unlimited express pass for both of you and you'll just have to purchase park to park tickets.

Go 6 days to universal and 1 day at Disney and you will save a lot of money....

Booking a room for the night is not cost effective for EP unless you put 5 people in the room....

Not always true; it is sometimes totally worth it even just for 2. Depends on when the OP is going.

OP, we had APs to Universal and stayed at Boardwalk one night in a one-bedroom on points, so I could do laundry for "free" that night. Obviously not free, but the machines were in our villa so it was easier to do it in a relaxing manner. (in my 20s I had all my wash stolen from my apartment complex machine, so I stay with my clothes when I do laundry...there's no swimming or leaving or being carefree for me while doing laundry at a resort) The next day we were very tempted to go to Epcot for the day...but at over $300 just for a day at Epcot for the 3 of us, with nothing even close to being like Express Pass? No.

It's never a happy cost to go somewhere for one or even 2 days.

If the plan is for 2 people to only go for one day then a room for EP is not cost effective, that was my point.

If you factor in 2 days in the park then it can be close, with the extra hour making it well worth the while.

However, if you have more than 2 in your party then it becomes financially more to just buy the EPs
