Tiana's Riverboat Party Ice Cream Social and Parade Viewing Starts Nov. 29th

I wonder if they would be against a roped off viewing area in liberty square because the Tiana and Naveen meeting on the ship are not the same Tiana and Naveen performing in the parade. Older guests would probably be able to spot the difference. Either way, this is my mom's favorite movie so we're scheduled for December 12th!
Because character integrity is the basis of entertainment, the long-distance parade view keeps that intact.

Of course, after leaving the boat, guests can walk over to watch MRFF with 'T&N #3' dancing on the stage. ;)

Depending on how late you are allowed to check in/what time Tia and Naveen show up, you could walk straight from the 2pm show (ending at 2:20) right to the party where they are waiting for you.

It's all about priorities. For my daughter and I it'll be a special treat before Christmas, and we can't afford more expensive things like club villain, and we've watched the parade plenty of time, so this will be fun for us. Plus Tiana is my favorite Disney Princess
I think you are Disney's target. People who want to have a special treat for the holidays or any other special occasion. It's a way for people to plus their experience.

Hmm, no bathroom facilities on the boat according to the wdwnt review. That's nice. You'd think they'd at least have a portable potty. Gross, but better than hanging over the edge of the boat! :rolleyes1

It sounds like most the party took place at the dock so I'm sure you could leave and use the bathroom like a dessert party, and then a regular cruise time frame.

Thanks so much for posting the review! We're actually encouraged by the review and will definitely keep our reservation. Again, just our youngest son and me for this one. He likes parades, boats and desserts and he dislikes crowds. The viewing location will be just fine for us - we don't mind the distance. And the theming is adorable - looks so well done. The desserts and snacks are precisely what he would choose. He's been to the Wishes, Illuminations and Star Wars dessert parties, with a reservation for Jingle Bam coming up and I'm guessing the food at Tiana's party will top all the rest in his little person opinion. After seeing the posted review, he immediately asked for a Naveen costume. Looks like it's a DIY on that one because the etsy versions are quite expensive, and I've found pieces that will allow him to transform from Mateo to Naveen to be "in character" for both the Elena meet and greet and the Tiana dessert party. :)

I'm with you - I was on the fence before, but I think the review actually sealed it for me. I've seen the parade SO many times, I'm looking forward to a different view! And some snacks. Plus, the theming is absolutely adorable.

I know! How cute is that theming? Prompted me to add a Princess and Frog shirt to my rawthreads order! :)

Great call! I have a tiny fascinator that I bought for Rock 'n' Roll NOLA last year that I made into a hairclip ... I feel like that bad boy is finally going to get its second wear!

The article mentions being docked at the beginning with food and drink offerings as people arrive, then leaving to dock at another location to watch the parade, then going back to pick up Tiana and Naveen, then going on the cruise. I don't think there is any opportunity to go to the washroom once you leave to see the parade. I'm guessing that's about an hour or so on the boat with all those drinks and ice cream and no washrooms. Too long IMO.

And what's with the autograph cards? You used to be able to get their autographs in the park. They remove them from the park, make them part of this paid event, and now you can't even ask for an actual autograph?
I also think that is terrible, especially for an upsell event. We use a Disney Storybook Collection book each trip for DD's autograph book. Characters with stories in the book sign their title page. Those without sign the front/back covers. Could we tape in an autograph card? Sure. But it's not the same thing at all. For an upsell event, especially, this comes across as very cheap.

yeah, it speeds things up because if people want to talk more with the characters they can. Each meet is about 30 seconds to a minute, if some of that time is taken away by signing then you have less time. True that most people just want a pic and that's it, some will engage in conversation, especially with face characters. I just think it's more efficient. Now cards for all meets is something I don't think we will ever see

Is it really that short at WDW? Wow. We had such an opposite experience at DLR a few weeks ago. Most meets were at least 2-3 mins, some closer to 5 (though those were definitely the exception, and a result of low crowds the 2 days before their holiday season began). I knew it was shorter at WDW, but it's been a while since we did characters there so I didn't realize how short(dd was only 15 months last time we were all there as a family).

It's probably 60 seconds as @yulilin3 described for meets where they hand out the autographed cards. A meet with signed autographs would be about 90 seconds max. So, if there are a few autograph books per group, the interaction time decreases to stay within the targeted time.

Am I the only one that doesn't think this is that bad? The theming and desserts look great, the meet and greet is lovely. The view is not ideal, but I think if you have seen the parade before it's fine! The way people were talking I thought the view was going to be much worse. You can still see all the floats, the dragon et. If they piped in the music it would be even better.

I think it looks cute, but maybe not for first timers or people that have the parade viewing as a priority.
I'm going December 23rd so we will get the Christmas parade but that day they do the parade twice and we always watch it both times, so we will watch the parade at noon from street level and then 3:30 from the riverboat.

I agree it looks really cute, the theming is very well done, and we will likely keep our reservation in March. I think the problem here is for first timers or folks unfamiliar with the layout of MK, the way WDW is selling it a bit misleading. Yes, it's "reserved" viewing for the parade, but it's not "priority" viewing, which is what many will expect when they book this. The view you get with the dining package at Tony's is 100x better, yet both events are described as having "VIP viewing" on Disney's page.

so what kind of view of the parade would this realistically be? sounds like it could be kind of fun.

According to Josh at easywdw, not very good. He has photos from the boat. Slayed it pretty good. He said if you want a good view of the parade, eat at Tony's.

I laughed so hard at the photo where he was pointing out where everything was and called it "Lemonade Drank".
