My DD16 and I did this yesterday.
Thanks for the great review! We are going in two weeks and i am really looking forward to this, my daughter is a big Tiana fan.
My DD16 and I did this yesterday.
When we did the party Tiana and Naveen on the parade and the ones at the party were two different friends. My daughter zoomed in with her camera to get a closer look. Two friends in the hall then friendship faire, boat and parade though I assume the FF friend changes wardrobe for the parade or boat since the show is off during that time
I haven't done it again yet, but from the outside nothing has changed. They still have food on the landing with photos, pull forward for the parade, and then do a loop around the river.Any post-holiday reviews of this event? I'm considering it for Easter weekend. I'm curious if anything has changed from the initial reviews.
Thanks for your review! We have this booked for July, and like you, this is not our first rodeo, and so we thought this would be a nice addition to the same ole. My daughters are older, but still princess fans. The boys are just dessert fans.I can't believe I forgot to review this! I was with our youngest son at WDW for several days before marathon weekend (he was 9 years old at the time) and we booked this. I'm not generally a princess fan, and he's not super crazy about princess and frog. But he loves parades and due to disability-related issues, he needs a less crowded viewing spot. He also loves an event in general. So we LOVED this party. It was worth every penny.
I'll start by saying this is not our first rodeo. We've had APs for several years, I've been going to disney since childhood, we've been to many disney special events, etc. In fact, if not for my love of runDisney events, I'd probably be nearing the saturation point. But this was a great event.
Our little guy dressed up in a homemade Naveen costume and was quite proud. I was wearing a raw threads running shirt with a very subtle Tiana theme and a tiana bow from etsy. So we were festive. The start of the party was definitely crowded, but we gathered our desserts and found a spot on a bench. We've been to many dessert parties (wishes, illuminations, star wars, jingle bam) and thought the Tiana desserts were among the best! We both enjoyed the vanilla cupcake the most, but they were all good. The theming was absolutely fantastic and Tiana and Naveen were super enthusiastic about his costume - so the photo op was really fun! I usually don't participate in photo ops, but he called me in and I'm glad he did.
When we boarded the boat, they handed out the mardi gras beads (so fun!) We headed upstairs and grabbed a spot along the railing. Not crowded on the boat and not at all difficult to find a spot by the railing. We were both happy to sit and look through the bars, although he did stand up a few times and jump up and down when he saw something particularly exciting. The boat pulled ahead to the viewing spot and it was ideal for us. It was good for him to be in an uncrowded environment and he still felt like he was "part of the action." Whenever one of the characters waved in our direction, he was entirely certain they were waving at him specifically - he went nuts (in a good way!) The on-board photopass guy took a zillion photos of his reactions, and a few unposed photos of the two of us together, and those photos are priceless.
Right before Naveen and Tiana boarded the boat, a CM gave two kids tambourines to pass to them - one went to my little guy and he was thrilled. The kids circled the boat in a "parade" with Tiana and Naveen and then they posed for more photos. We got a few more snacks - they had the popcorn bags (candied and regular - wrapped in adorable polka dot bags with matching ribbon) bags of rold gold pretzels, mickey bars, mickey ice cream sandwiches, water and I can't remember the rest. We sat on benches at the front of the boat while he ate snacks and we enjoyed the view together. It was entirely peaceful, quiet and a really amazing memory. We pulled into the dock and CMs sent us away with more popcorn, snacks and water.
I understand this is not great for everyone. Some may prefer to be closer to the parade. Some may determine the value based on the snacks consumed. Under those circumstances, it's probably not a good value. But for us, it was an excellent value. It was a quiet oasis and a great memory. Really priceless.
Pixarmom, do you remember what time you were off the boat? I moved it due to the rain next week and I'm wondering if my FP+ times will work. Thanks so much.
yes they move the dessert party portion to Harbour House. If it's raining heavily the parade will be cancelled and no refunds will be offeredHas anyone done this when it rains? We are scheduled for Sunday and it looks like it will rain. Any information would be wonderful. I did see the one post about Columbia Harbor House for check in.
I am not sure. Hopefully someone knowsThanks. I'm glad I moved it to a different day. Do Tiana and Prince Naveen even come out if there is rain?
I don't think Disney will have any trouble with it, infamous service corridors, and you can have Tiana a Naveen in both locations within minutesI could make a jab about another hard ticket/VIP upcharge however instead I'll make a comment about logistics how will it work for Tiana and Naveen to be on boat watching the parade and in said parade ... unless it's just a quick post parade meet
Ps I know there are multiple friends I'm just talking about the no two of the same characters ex amount of distance from one another
I'd guess we were done by 4. After the parade Tiana's and Naveen were back on the boat for about a half hour. Can someone else also confirm if th S event finishes around 3:45 to 4 or lasts longer ?
And in case of rain will the characters also meet in doors at the harbour house ?
