Can you tell me about Tiana’s? I’m going on a Wonder 3 day cruise and wanted to know if I have messed up. I have a stomach issue that whenever I have onions or garlic it’s been difficult for me to eat on the Magic and Wonder in the past in that space no mater what they call the restaurant because it’s always a spicy (onion and garlic based) meal. And the fresher the ingredients the worse I get sick. Each of the other MDR’s have a meal without or can substitute something except that one end of the ship. I got baked chicken 2X with no added flavors of any kind, another time I just ate appetizers. So napkin hats are fun but will I be missing something else? I can eat at the pirate buffet after dinner if I’m going to miss something.

All the dining rooms have the "lighter fare" option on the menus. There is the baked chicken, steak, and sometimes fish that's available. Plain, no sauces. And steamed veggies, or baked potato.

Would that work for you?

Tiana's does have a "show" of sorts on their rotational menu night.

Yeah, or something... It's a fun dixieland style jazz band. Can get a bit loud to chat at dinner but that may not be bad either. Food is new orleans style as you would expect so if your sensitive stomach won't allow you to indulge simply as for a plain meal as stated above. It was our favorite restaurant on the magic.

But I really do want sauces, I can have dried powdered onion but not garlic. It’s the fresh chopped that will send me to bed near a bathroom for 2-3 days.
Yes I’ve had those plain meals and wondered why I couldn’t have a lemon and dill, or butter and fresh black pepper, on my fish. Or tomato sauce with parmesan sprinkles over my chicken. After looking at my husbands and daughters colorful tasty looking meals then they placed the plate in front of me(mine always came much later from somewhere special I guess). My entry was just heated fish fillet or chicken breast right from the oven to the table. It’s the only dining room where EVERY option had pre-made sauce/topping/seasonings with onions and/or garlic.

So do they play the entire time? Do people dance? Do they cruise the room or set up on a stage?

There's a stage, and some of the characters do come down & around the tables during the show. There's not really a dance floor (it is a dining room), but I wouldn't be surprised if some people did get up and dance during the show (people are like that).

It's my understanding that you can order from another dining room. I'd ask your server about that. You can explain as much or as little about your situation and I'll bet they'll help you out.

On the nights that all the dining rooms are serving their rotational (signature) menus, you can usually request an item from a different dining room. On the nights that all dining rooms are serving the same menu, you're pretty much locked into what's on that menu.

Did you ask about having lemon/dill or butter/pepper added to your fish? I would have thought they'd be able to accommodate that.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of reports from people on this board who have done just that. I've also heard that you can order a steak and fries and get it every night even if it's not on the menu. On a three night cruise is every night rotational menu? Or do they have you miss one of the rotational menus in favor of an event menu?

On a 3 night cruise every night is a rotational menu. On a 4 night = 3 rotational menus and the Pirate menu.

To be honest, Disney is great about food issues. I would go so far as to say that if you explained your food issues to your waited the first night, by the third night he will be ready with the options hat fit your requirements. They are awesome like that.

You don't say whether you are early or late seating, but another idea could be to eat in cabanas that evening and then just go to tiana's place for desserts. That way you'll get to have a different menu and still get to enjoy the ambience.

Talk to your server and come up with a plan together

Great pictures!!! They do have a moment during dinner where they do limbo with the kids that want to participate and then then all kind of march around the restaurant "mardi gras" style when its over.

Up by the stage is a small area where the kids kind of congregate during the music and many of them do dance around.

Just a head's up - I don't think they do the Pirate Buffet on the shorter cruises. At least, that's been our experience. Of course, I could be wrong, and please correct me if I am. :)

we had it on our 3 night last year

There was an awesome jazz band.

You can order the plain items as usual on all menus - a steak, fish (usually salmon) or a chicken breast. But those are meant for people who need or prefer plain food, without sauces or a lot of spices. If you have an issue with one ingredient you may need to take that up with your serving team the night before at least.

I wouldn't miss Tiana's - it's a really fun atmosphere with the live jazz band. Tiana makes an appearance, as well as Louis the alligator. Here are some pictures of our daughter meeting these characters at our table:

(FYI, they do not sign autographs.)

Definitely let your server know about your food sensitivities, and plan to order from the "light" menu or another dining room's menu that night. I am kind of a picky eater and have allergies, so I had the steak, baked potato, and veggies on the light menu two nights on our cruise. It was totally fine!

If you address this with your server early on, you can probably pre-order your meal the night before. DH and I both have food allergies, so we pre-ordered all our meals the night before; it was a very easy process!

Those are amazing I had no idea!

At your recommendation I printed out the other 2 MDR’s and highlighted what I can have. For example I only found one bread that I can have. (The other had onion and garlic) I think this will make it easier for them to work with.

Did you ask about having lemon/dill or butter/pepper added to your fish? I would have thought they'd be able to accommodate that.
That too is part of my plan this year to ask for those and see if maybe I can have the béarnaise sauce on my fish, but I bet it has onions.
