I have always HATED roller coasters! (Ever since I was forced to ride one on my 5th birthday) That being said, I seem to remember riding TMR a very long time ago and enjoying it. Its the drop that I hate the most, I always feel like I am going to fall out of the car.

Are there any drops on TMR? Are there any other coaster haters out there who have been on TMR?

Thanks

There are a few drops.....but not any HUGE drops were you go straight down plumeting to your death. One of by friends that is at my house right now is a roller coaster hater....he said its not really frightening or anything.... and he said he thinks it is a great way to start out, and to try and overcome your fear... he nows goes on rockin rollercoaster after trying it.Alot of the drops are more at an angle..like you go down and around a corner instead of going straight down.

I don't remember any great big drops. Look at the ride when your there its not that tall. It whips you around more. Tip the further you sit towards the front the less it rough the ride. The back is where all the fun is.

I'm not a big fan of roller coasters either but trust me, none of the "drops" on BTMRR are bad. They are very tame actually :)

There is nothing large enough to make your stomache drop which is most likely the feeling you are terrfied from. So go ahead and get on TMR I think you will enjoy it now like you remember you did in the past.

I'll agree with everyone else. The only drops are extremely small, nothing to be worried about. This is probably a suggestion that is a bit to extreme, but if you don't like drops, Rockin Roller Coaster doesn't have any.

No major drops on this one BUT as we discovered last year.this ride MUST be done after dark!..it Totaly changes the experience all lit up! We aranged or touring schedule this year JUST so this could be done!

I am a rollercoaster chicken and I rode Space Mt with my DH and kids in March and it was a huge mistake, I was so terrified and swore I would NEVER do it again, is this one like Space or much tamer?

this is a quite tame rollercoaster, no sudden drops, it just jerks you around a lot.

You rode Space Mountain :earseek: Are you crazy?! :teeth: sorry, but as a roller coaster wimp  I have ridden Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and Goofy's Barnstormer (for my kids), and even Splash Mountain. Here's how they rate:

Space Mountain --- NOT happening again
Thunder Mountain --- I actually enjoy this one, it's fun, no big drops (one
small one that seems like it will be huge, but it's OK) and
you can see everything coming so it's fun
Goofy's --- I know it's in the kiddie area, but I screamed like a little girl so I
guess I fit right in. Hate the drop but once that's past it's
OK and it's so quick that I can fake bravery for my kids
for that short time
Splash Mountain --- When I saw the picture they take of you while you're
falling, I was amazed to discover that my eyes could
close that tightly and that my face could sqwunch so
small :rotfl2: Everything BUT that last drop is fun. A fun
ride IF I could have gotten off right before the last drop.
Just did this one on my last trip. Don't think I'll do it \
again, but MAYBE for the kids. :rolleyes1

Dopey's Girl, I loved your descriptions!! :rotfl: They really made me laugh...AND they are quite accurate! I will go on some roller coasters, but I don't really enjoy them. The drop on Splash Mountain really makes me uncomfortable, but I suck it up for the rest of the ride.
But BTMRR is so much fun for me - I can't stop giggling on it!!! :earboy2: It is a roller coaster, but you can see it all coming, there are no big drops, and the theming is fun. I made my sister go on it with me about five times last Dec - the night ride was fun!

Hope you give it a try - I think you'll like it. :goodvibes

I HATE roller coasters...absolutely detest them. Having said that, I absolutely LOVE BTMRR!! I ride that one over and over and over again!! There are no huge drops, no jerking around, nothing like that. What I love the most is that the "ground" always stays right with the track so you never feel like you're going really high.

Space Mountain...did it one time, and never again. I literally came off crying I was so scared. Hey, if I'm going to die, I wanna see what's happening. :rotfl2: Plus, when I went on at the time, it was very jerky. My husband has been on it sincec then and says it's a lot smoother, but I'll just take his word for it.

Splash Mountain...did it last year...didn't like it. There were a few drops that I hated. I only knew about the last one, so dropping in total darkness with no knowledge of it to prepare myself was not something I took kindly to.

The Barnstormer and Primeval Whirl at AK...I didn't like those. Barnstormer was jerky for me when I went on it a few years ago (people have been reporting now that's really smooth). The one in AK made me feel I was gonna fall right off it.

My husband is trying to convince me to go on RnR this year, we'll see. Expedition Everest...HA! That one won't be touched with a 100 ft pole!!

I don't really consider BTMRR a coaster. More of a fast ride up and down some small hills. As to "rating" - my DS who has Down Syndrome, and was scared of a lot of rides, rode it and LOVED it when he was only 6. It was several more years before he was big enough for Space Mountain, which he now loves, and won't go on BTMRR anymore because it isn't wild enough. But I haven't been able to get him on RNRC yet (he's afraid of the up-side-down part, and I think the loudness of it might freak him out) or Splash Mountain. I've never been on Splash myself - I'm OK with the big drop, but I HATE getting wet!

If you sit in the front or near the front, the train goes very slow over those little hills. :) Of course, my kids and DH always like to ride in the back. :scared: But, really, it still is not bad! It's alot of fun and shouldn't be missed!

How would you guys rate Space Mountain vs. Rock 'N Rollercoaster? My DD and I got brave enough for RNR a couple of weeks ago (I'm really proud of us since we are big chickens) and I was hoping that SM wasn't too much scary than that. TIA :)

And we loved BTMR... I have read here that it is a rollercoaster for people that hate rollercoasters.

I am a real roller coaster chicken and I have to say that BTMR is my favorite - hands down! It is definitely tamer than Space Mtn but it does jerk you around. I took my DD5 on it with me and she didn't like that she was sliding back and forth in the seat (she is way braver than me and now goes on stuff with her dad that makes me queasy just looking at!) Compared to coasters at amusement parks I think the Disney ones are the most awesome for chickens like me! :cheer2: This year I'm even going to try RnR (I chickened out last time but my sister rode it and she is a bigger chicken than me so now I have to do it! ;) )

Big Thunder is the only roller coaster I will ride! :flower: I have found on roller coasters that if I close my eyes and keep my head down, it helps my stomach stay where it belongs. I rode space mountain once and said never again. The Matterhorn in DL is the only other roller coaster I can handle. However, my kids are trying to talk me into the Rocknroller coaster in Dec. The thought terrifies me. :scared1: Debby

I have not been on RNRC yet (I don't like coasters and I don't have a desire to go upside down), but my DH, older DD and niece have been on it several times. My DH swears it does NOT go upside down (even though we know it does) and DD and niece say it doesn't feel like it goes upside down. So, if your DS can handle the idea of going upside down, he will probably like it. For the noise, I know a lot of people who are sensitive to sound use ear plugs for rides that are louder.

For the OP>
I don't like roller coasters at all, except for:
- Goofy's Barnstormer. My idea of the perfect roller coaster. The first drop is pretty big, but not bad. By the time you are recovered from that, the ride is over.
- BTMRR. I liked the description of a "fast ride with hills". There are no big drops, just fast downhills. One of the other things I like about it is that you never feel like you are hanging out in the air. Since it's supposed to be a railroad, the track is always close to the ground except for a few bridges.

I am not a fan of Space Mountain (I rode it only once and had to hang on for dear life and didn't open my eyes much!) but I enjoyed BTMRR very much and I'm no spring chicken. I'd say be sure to try it and keep your eyes open to take in the setting. I think you'll really enjoy it.

You guys are all awesome. Thanks for the input. I feel pretty confident to go on it again. Now I just have to talk my DH into joining me.
