Does Disneyland have the new thumbscanners at the turnstiles or is this just something at WDW. By the way, what exactly are those things for and does it make the entering process any slower?

No, but they aren't "thumb"scanners at WDW either, as they use the index and middle finger. The scanner (biometrics) from what I understand measure the length of your fingers and the space between the two fingers and since I hear it takes some practice to get it right the first few times you use it, yeah it slows things down a bit. Anyway, no, they aren't at DL, just WDW right now.

From my understanding (never used it myself as my one trip to WDW I had a UPH) they take a scan the first time you use the pass and from then on that scan is attached to the ticket through the magnetic strip and it keeps others from sharing/selling passes.
