So this means all those VHS tapes & home movies we finally burned to DVDs are degrading too and have to be transferred to something else?
That is a project we'll be starting soon as I just bought some software / gadget thing that is supposed to do that. I want to do it before the VHS tapes break. I heard the DVDs degrade too over time.
Some of the VHS tapes are those old home movies from 1950's 1960s that we transferred to VHS. The old home movies had already become brittle and couldn't be played but we managed to get them to VHS tape about 20 yrs ago. I expect to probably have to change media every 10-20 yrs unfortunately.
Since we don't have any children, I've started to really wonder if some of this is really all worth it honestly.
