Anyone have experience renting a car through Thrifty at SNA?
We're planning an unexpected Aug. trip to DL (and other) and was shocked at the "discounted" rates at Alamo etc. Then as a last resort checked out Thrifty. WOW ... quite reasonable. Since we're coming in on Friday and staying for 12 did another rental of breaking up the dates (weekend and then full week) and it came out to around $185 total/tax inc. for a midsize.
Also found out Thrifty IS at SNA and no offsite. Hopefully their cars are on par w/Alamo-National.
TIA
Carolyn

Try Hotwire. Once I got a rental for $11! My friend got one first week of June $8. Totally worth it.

We always use Thrifty, and have been very pleased with their prices, service and car selection. Never used them specifically at SNA, but I wouldn't hesitate if I needed a car there.

Guess I should have said that splitting up ressie made it $185 for a total of 12 days including taxes etc. Which was a heck of alot less than all the others. Not too sure if I'd take a chance using hotwire before since it's prepaid... would do hotel w/priceline though...
thanks
Carolyn

We rented from Thrifty at SNA & it was handy since the cars are right at the airport. I think a lot of the other rental places had cars right there, too.

We didn't have many problems with them, but we did have to wait for awhile for a car, and then they just upgraded us. I think we were waiting for about 20-30 minutes before we were upgraded to a nice SUV.

The rental set-up at SNA is my favorite since you don't have to take a shuttle.

We've also rented through Hotwire & it is really convenient as well.

Voice of dissention here. We recently rented from them and the whole thing was a mess. We were given 2 25 dollar vouchers but we had problems with our car not being available, when we got down to the pick-up area it was going to be another 20 minute wait for an SUV, which was not our vehicle of choice, it had manual everything and rust on the side of the car. IT had only 19,000 miles on it.

We did Fox rental from SNA and they were extremely reasonable. Plus we were upgraded because they were out of the mid size that we requested. They were very nice, gave us a great map that we still have and we would use them again.

Another Hotwire fan here. We've rented a fullsized car for a week at John Wayne for our vacation in October for $139, taxes fees and everything included. Our car is through Hertz.
