Welcome to my first pre-trip report! I am about as new as they come to the Disboards! I think this may be my fourth post. But I am in one short month I have learned alot!

So, to begin, here is my Disney background.

My first trip to The World was when I was 5 years old with my mom, dad, and sister. My memories of that trip are limited. I remember my sister and I wearing matching red velour shirts with white satin hearts. My mother dressed us alike a lot. My second memory was being too short to ride pretty much everything! My sister, much to her chagrin was tall enough to ride space mountain. She has not ridden a roller coaster since. (I on the other hand was riding them over and over again as soon as I reached that height milestone.)

I didn't return for 17 years...As a college senior, I with a bunch of friends went to Daytona for spring break. Well, some small town on a river outside of Daytona anyway. We were the opposite of most kids at the time. Huge partiers at college, so spring break was almost our detox. We took a boat out on the river most days. We did head to Orlando for two days. My biggest memories of that trip are that it was one of the coldest spring breaks in Florida history and being amazed at the high price of tickets to get into the parks. Thanks for the Triple A card Mom and Dad!

Less than a year later, in January of 1997, my best friend from grad school and I drove down to Tampa to visit one of our friends. We drove over to the World, because she scored an interview with some big wig at Epcot her Dad knew. Biggest memory of that trip, sneaking out of Epcot. We had been let in the back way because of the interview, but had to figure out how to get to the back lot where are car was parked.

I did not return again until 2005 with my DBF and his kids, for 5 days before thanksgiving. My goal that trip was to return to Magic Kingdom for the first time since I was five. It was by far my favorite park of the trip. We ate at Le Cellier, 50's prime time cafe, Akershas character meal, and, I believe Liberty Tree Tavern. We also went to La nouba. For my first trip with the kids, it was a great experience!!!

Fast forward to April 2008... DBF planned a trip to Daytona, as he had a timeshare there he hadn't used in years. We did not really enjoy Daytona, and the first day we got a rental car we zipped over to Sea World, as I had never been. The next day we went to Gatorland (I had been on that trip as a five year old, and had a desperate need to return to relive the nostalgia. (My dad passed away in 2006 and I look for every opportunity to reconnect with him, hence a return to Gatorland.) Since Gatorland is not really a full day activity, we headed over to WDW to ride the mouseboats from the Poly. Umm, I had no idea what he meant. We actually ended up renting a Pontoon boat. We returned to the Poly, and had a couple of drinks at the
bar by O'Hanas. And then we of course got hungry...Where to eat, with no ADRs? O'hanas? My DBF is very picky, and after looking at the food, did not think it was for him. Kona's? I had had way too much steak that week, and the chicken was not was I was hoping for....Okay, let's head to the contemporary...Concourse steakhouse? Of course, and they could seat us right away!!!!!

So somewhere between the Pina Colada, seeing the Castle from the lake, riding the monorail, and hearing the excitement at Chef Mickeys...I was bitten by Disney bug....

Next up...Cast of characters....

The title of your post lured me in :lmao:

We went to WDW in late January/early February.. we just went again last weekend and are headed back Aug 29.. so we will have gone 3 times in months so when I saw it I knew I had to read it..

Im looking forward to reading the rest..

Me--Mid Thirties old career woman (egads!):surfweb: interests include travel, food, and shoes. Well, if shoes can be an interest. :confused3 No kids, but have two wonderfu nieces that I corrupt regularly. Oh, and I have a burgeoning interest in photography.

He--We will call him TB. 48 year old and partner in crime for for nearly 4 years. Dr. Jekyll/Mr Hyde. In his professional life he is hard nosed, unbending, tough and demanding. The only thing that belies his softer side is the Disney logo on all of his dress shirts. He has been a DVC member for a decade and when his kids were young he was known to take weekend trips with them nearly every month. He likes cars :car: and boats and trying to make me mad:headache: But really, it's all about making me happy:love:

D(S)S: We will call him junior (He is a mini TB, well not height wise, but maybe width wise.) He likes x-box, and wii, and alienware. He doesn't get out much. :happytv: He owns more movies than your average blockbuster. Nice normal kid

D(S)D: We will Call her Cici. She was the teenage girl I was jealous of. Drop dead gorgeous, super sweet, the world at her feet...she has no idea how much potential she has. We don't see her as much as we used to...:sad2: Her social calendar is WAAAAAAAAY to full. She likes photography, art, writing, boys, travel, boys, shopping, boys...

So who gets to go and when? Stay tuned for the next installment...

Trip number #1

DBF has been itching to get me back to WDW for nearly 3 years. But due to works schedules and some medical issues with both my parents...we have not been able to manage it...so, as I mentioned in the first post, I was bitten by the Disney bug in late april sometime around sipping on Pina Colada in the Poly!

Trip #1
Oct. 19-26
SSR
This one was actually planned before we left for Daytona, but I figured DBF would just plan it. He knows all about ADR's and when to go where, how to get there, blah, blah, blah. Why would I waste my time planning? When we got back, I bought one book, then two, now I have like six, and then I discovered the DIS. Not good for a planner like me. (Oh and we have stuck a 4 day vegas trip on the front end of the trip. Something about an auto auction. Blah, blah, blah...I hear food, shopping, massage. MUST relax before Disney!

I am beyond excited about food and wine fest. I love to eat, and what goes better with food then wine? The end of july can not get here fast enough so I can see if there are any tastings or other events we can work in. We won't be staying for a Sat. night, so no party for the senses. :sad1:

This one is just me and DBF!

Trip #2
Dec 11-14
Boardwalk Villas
DBF likes to take at least one trip alone with Junior each year. Now that Junior is in college, the best time to go is December. Unfortunately, DBF does not ride roller coasters, which Junior loves, but hates to ride alone. So guess who got volunteered to ride roller coasters? That's right...me! Truth be told, as I get older, and filled with more anxiety, I think I am close to putting the roller coaster rides behind me. But...when junior actually wants me to go, how can I say no? i'll just refill the xanax prescription and off we go! Oh, and I might have worked Discovery Cove into the equation! Yee haw!! (I know purists will hate me, but the October trip is 99% Disney with only one off site dinner!)

Trip #3
March
Hilton (off site near Downtown Disney)
So each year, I get a choice to go to one of two conferences for work. Being the type of gal I am, I generally pick based on location. This year it's Dallas or Orlando. There is obviously no choice. (No offense to anyone from Dallas...lovely city.) I am hoping to talk DBF into the necessity of getting me an Annual pass. So I can spend some time in the parks...I may do this alone, with a colleague, or my sister and niece may join me..or a friend. Have not fully decided!

Next up...The October Trip

Me, DBF, and D(S)S are taking a quick weekend trip. I really enjoy spending time with Junior (though I enjoy both kids more when they are without their sibling as they do not compete for their Dad's attention.) He is a great young man in his own right, though sometimes tries to be too much like his dad:( He needs to realize he is awesome in his own right.

I just booked tickets 10 minutes ago.

We fly in late on December 11 (still no room for that night!):scared1:

We will be in the BWV for Dec. 12-15.

I have booked Le Cellier (the favorite of both men) for Dec.13. I tried for the 12. Called as soon as it Advance Dining Opened and got nothing on my first possible day. Couldn't get Dec. 13 until after 9 p.m. Maybe because of Candlelight Processional?

I have also booked the Fantasmic Dinner package at Brown Derby. (This may mean we don't go to Brown Derby during first trip.) Need to talk to the others to see if they actually want this! (That's what they get for putting me in charge!!!)

That's all we have for now!!!

For the October Trip, I updated my ADR's. I cancelled Shulas, but added dinner at Jiko and a farewell breakfast at O'Hana on our last Day!!!

The good: In the last two weeks I have received my trip planning DVD's and my personalized maps. Also, a few weeks ago, DBF spotted a stitch stuffed animal in one of those crane machines that he "knew" he could get. And he did! It is my new mascot!

The BAD: One of the things I was most excited about doing was the Adventurers Club, but alas it will be no more. I am desparately seeking new options!

The Shopping: I have been taking a camera class and using D(S)D DSLR. DBF is going to be buying my my own after the class. This weekend I Bought a new Tamrac shoulder sling bag that is sooooooooo awsome! I have been wearing it around and it is very comfortable. SO excited!
