Happy Mother’s Day !!

MOM
My mom survived 2 heart attacks in 1 day and 5 stents put in the span of 4 days at the age of 83. I greatful for every extra day that God has given us with her!

1. Made delicious treats from scratch everyday, even after working all day. We always had fresh cookies, cake, pie, cinnamon rolls, etc. She also made bread from scratch and jelly and jam. I appreciate that more now than I did as a kid. So delicious!

2. Read to me every day. It didn't matter what book I brought home, even if she didn't like it, mom read it to me.

3. Helped me with my kids when I had to return to work and DH was driving truck. I couldn't have done it without her.

4. Mother in-law. My MIL was good to me and my kids. Always kind, generous, and loving. I was very lucky and blessed to have a good relationship with her. We miss her greatly.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom  :flower1:

#1 - MY MOM - I’m very grateful to my mom that has done so much for me and still does. Truth be told, we have very little in common which really put a strain on our relationship when I was younger. She finally came to realize that I will never be like her, and that strengthened our relationship a lot. I’m more of a Type A/B personality and she’s more of a Type B/D personality. Regardless of what type of personality she has, she’s a wonderful human being and has always been a good and faithful servant to our God. She is also a wonderful grandma to my girls.

#2 - MY MIL - I’m grateful to her for being a good mom to my DH and grandma to my girls. I love her, but I don’t have much of a relationship with her outside of family gatherings. Her and I have never done something alone together, because it’s just not something I ever wanted to do. She’s never asked me and I’ve never asked her. Family gatherings are enough.

#3 - MY GRANDMA - I’m so grateful for her, because she really shaped me into the person I am today. I miss her every day, even though I’m glad she’s not here to see how my DD27 left our family. My grandma adored my DD - the sun rose and set with her. I will forever remember how my grandma’s face would light up when she’d be with my DD. At one time I was my grandma’s favorite, but I was quickly replaced with my DD and I loved seeing their relationship. My grandma babysat my DD when I went to work until she unexpectedly passed away when getting a knee replacement. This was March 2006.

Well, I don’t like seafood and I have never been to Washington State. Sooooo . . .

My mom and dad have both passed. Yesterday would have been Dad’s birthday and of course, today is Mother’s Day. I have spent a lot of time this weekend thinking about how grateful I was to have both of them in my life. They taught me how to take care of myself, how to treat others, and how to have fun. I still miss that support.

My grandmothers and aunts were also available as surrogate moms and they taught me so much. They were the ones who taught me many family recipes, and how to knit, crochet, and do needlework. They were a fiercely loyal group of women and I am proud they were part of my life.

Disney research and data collection
Imagineers
Spaceship Earth
Nomad Lounge
Epcot
Yachtsman Steakhouse, haven't been there for a few years, but lots of great memories.

Grateful to my mom for her love of great literature, classical music (not opera for me though), and attention to details in art.

Washington State

It's always interesting to read on different threads that folks have to see Seattle but not Portland Oregon... I don't understand the draw and have never found Seattle interesting.. like listening to your brother in law talking about sports but ask him about a book 📚 📚 and get "what????"

So let me introduce you to the Columbia River gorge... Washington experience...of course you have to travel on the Oregon side if the driver is to experience the visit.

Skamania Lodge is the best immersive experience in the Northwest... nestled in the forest but a wonderful view of the gorge wall and all the luxury of resorts and had a fun tiny town to explore

Stonehenge....yep... I kid you not... visit it and get off your bucket list the Washington State version

Maryhill museum another bucket list way to check off Europe art museums

Mt Hood..yes that is in Oregon but the short beautiful drive is easy to access while visiting Washington

... imagine all that you can accomplish in the Columbia River gorge

And the photo... that is Mount Rainier...a very long and tedious drive and once you get there.... well no one has been truthful about there visit

Where as Mt Hood... you are standing on the top of the world... you can hike the mountain or take a chair lift and walk down....and timberline Lodge....all the elements that folks talk about timberline Lodge may not sound true.... but they are true!!!

Good Monday Morning

I’m grateful for….

#1 - MY FIRST TV - My first TV was a TV & VCR combo that my parents bought me for Christmas when I was 18yrs old. I loved that TV so much and I used it until it died - it lasted for about 15 years.

#2 - EARLY 2000 PLAYHOUSE DISNEY SHOWS - I have the most wonderful warm loving memories of watching these shows with DD27 when she was little. We’d watch Bear in the Big Blue House, Rollie Pollie Ollie, PB&J Otter and Out of the Box.

#3 - SMART TVS TO WATCH YOUTUBE - Today I have the most warm and loving memories of watching YouTube with DD22. We love watching all our favorite Disney influencers together either in the same house or on FaceTime when she’s at her apartment 2 1/2 hours away.

I still have one of these! I bought it to have next to the treadmill so I could watch videos while I walked. It’s one of two working VCRs in the house. Mine is a small one, 13 inches, so yours was probably larger. It is so heavy compared to today’s TVs.

TV related things . . .

High definition, for those of us who are starting to get a little older. So much clearer than standard definition.

Digital signals, so I don’t have to watch a show through the “snow”. Either you have a picture or you don’t.

The ability to easily watch streaming, DVDs, play video games, even use the TV as a computer monitor. They have come a long way from where they started.

I'm behind so just going to start with today...

Streaming services that cover your standard local and cable channels. We were out to dinner last night and it occurred to me that DH and DD17 were missing something they really wanted to watch. So, I turned it on with my phone while out to dinner.

Big TVs - While it's still fun to go to the theater, a large tv at home means being able to create a theater like setting in the comfort of your own home...where you can pause the movie to use the restroom and not have to pay a fortune for your snacks.

Baking shows - While I love cooking shows, in general, I am such a fan of anything with baking... especially extreme cakes.

Sunday night with Walt Disney....saved my life from the poverty and desolation of the 1960s Joshua Tree wilderness...he gave me hope and a vast vision of the rewards of creativity

Mork and Mindy...cracked my shell of an egg 🥚 🥚 🥚 that I functioned in and made me an extrovert to become a university performer...if I had not been a mork doplengager...no idea what my life would have been like

And sad to write...if not for Burl ives singing silver and gold and Clarence being yelled from the Bedford falls bridge... there would be no interia to decorate the neighborhood...and for that I am grateful for big screen TV outside in the summer air of December

We have our TV up several years ago. The cost of the satellite kept increasing and time to watch kept diminishing so we shut it off.

I second Sunday Nighs with Walt Disney. ♥️ I always wanted to go to Disney and Florida, but my family was very poor. I watched Walt faithfully every week. DH took me to WDW for part of our honeymoon.

Children's Quality Programming - Sesame Street, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, Bear in Big Blue House, Blue's Clues, The Backyardigans, so many more!

Friends, Survivor, Lost, The Big Bang Theory, TGIF, The Golden Girls, The Muppets on Saturday nights.

My first TV was a small little black-and-white TV but it was mine it was in my room and I could watch whatever I wanted whenever I wanted it

Getting up in the middle of the night to watch Diana get married to watch her become a princess and do it again years later to watch a commoner become a royal princess color because I got up for Diana and got to use the color TV for that one

PBS used to have British night and played a lot of British sitcoms I enjoyed it so much

Evening News - I like watching the evening news every night - now you can get news all the time

And to be able to watch a movie whenever I wanted to VCR - then DVD - now streaming
