An Ample Hills just opened in my neighborhood and I am ADDICTED to the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. I'd love to try this red velvet version!

Ample Hills was disappointing to me. I thought all the flavors I tried were incredibly sweet and overly full of "stuff." It was hard to eat because I had to do so much chewing and I have sensitive teeth so it hurt! The guy working behind the counter was also SUPER rude and curt with my two autistic kids. It's unfortunate, because I had such high hopes. For my money, the ice cream shop in the France pavilion is still #1.

I'd love to hear opinions / comparisons, please report back with your findings if you go. I've never done Les Halles, but there's no way I won't be hitting A.H. Hopefully I can try both in a few months.

It's different. Ample Hills is more of a creamery - the ice cream is heavy and decadent. It's high-fat and indulgent. L'Artisan is more gelato/ice cream kinda place. It's hard to explain, exactly. You won't regret either, but I definitely recommend trying AH at least once.
