Well.... I said I'd get my TR finished before I started this PTR. :rolleyes1 But I can't stand it anymore!!

I will finish my TR soon. If anything all this planning will motivate me to finish!!

BUT !

I have not one but TWO trips to plan and what's the fun of planning without a PTR!!

The cast is gonna get complicated but I think I can keep em straight!

Re-introducing:

Yours truly

January2010203-1.jpg

I had to crop out the kids to find a pic of just me from this past trip.

Elastigirl or Gellybean or Momma - 30 - I'm the Disney addict. This will be my 13th and 14th trips. Can't get enough! I've been going since I was 6. I'm enjoying endoctrinating my kiddos into the Disney lovers lifestyle. :rolleyes1 I'm a SAHM and love every minute. I'm also a member of the WISH thread! :lovestruc my WISH girls. I have weight loss goals set for both trips

Mr. Incredible

January2010260.jpg

Right after drinking Beverly! :rotfl2:

DH 32 - He works way too much and is always in need of a vacation. He's a recent Disney convert and it took me a while to convince him to go this August because he's from the South and knows how Florida can be in the hot humid 90s. He really enjoys Epcot and all the food options. He was a chef in his former career and is a bit of a foodie.

Dash

January2010126.jpg

He lost a front tooth on our last trip, hence the title of the TR "Look at Those Chompers!"

DS7 - He will get to go 4 times this year, once with his dad and step mom to Disneyland. Lucky duck. He loves it. He's a great kid. Will be a 2nd grader next year. He loves most thrill rides but his favorite is Splash Mountain. He was bummed that it was closed last January.

Jack-Jack

January2010600.jpg

Making a royal mess in Tutto Italia

DS2 - This will be his 3rd and 4th trips. He's the main reason we were gonna try to get back this year. Gotta get another trip in before he's 3 and costs more money!

FairyGodmother or FGM for short

DSC02317.jpg

My mom- ripe young age of 67, will be 68 before we leave. We'll be celebrating her birthday in December but she's not THE main birthday girl this trip. She's there this week and just bought her annual pass. She's the reason we're going in August, too. Explanation to come. She went with us for Jack-Jack's first birthday celebration in January 09. TR is somewhere in the great completed TR abyss.

And Introducing-

Edna

battle095.jpg

My oldest sister. She will be celebrating her 50th birthday right before this trip and thus, we will be celebrating her birthday quite a bit while we are there, as it's the BIG 5 0. Though I don't think she's realized I have caught on to this little coincidence of turning 50 two weeks before we leave. :teacher: She's not a princess type but loves the World. Kinda likes things her way sometimes but loves loves loves my boys. She's a teacher and hasn't been since 07. She's jonesing for a Disney World fix.

Trips - TWO of them-

First was the December trip. We were talking about wanting to go back again before Jack Jack is three and when I looked at next year's school calendar there aren't a lot of long weekends to choose from. We could go back for MLK weekend again but taking Dash out for so many days is going to get harder and harder. I noticed that Christmas falls on a Saturday this year with a whole week off before hand. Hmmm... Edna is in education and has the same schedule. Hmmmmmm. So I brought up the idea to my sister and mom (who is definitely gonna go if my sister and I are) and they were both in! See... with Mr. I's career in the restaurant biz, he's never going to be able to go at Christmas time. :sad2: And I really want to see the Osbourne Lights and the castle all lit up. (Happydog and Soonergirl I hold you both fully to blame for my Christmas trip desire! :lmao:)

I'm um a little ashamed to add, for those that have read my TRs, we will not be inviting my MIL. :rolleyes1 I feel awful about it but she's really not a Disney lover anyway and it changes the whole dynamic. So it's just gonna be me, my sister, my mom and my two boys. More December details to come.

On to our August trip. Like I said, it's my mom's fault. She decided to buy a AP because of her trip in May and now our upcoming trip in December. She got a 45% off discount (up from a 40% pin code) for her trip to AKL this week and it nearly paid for the difference in her 6 day pass and her AP. So now, she's got this hot little AP burning a hole in her pocket now. So as I was looking around on the WDW website the other day for some detail for her trip she's on now, I saw that they are bringing MSELP (Main Street Electrical Light Parade) back and having a different version of the fireworks in MK. Hmmm... So I mentioned this to my mom and she said "Well it's ashame that you and Mr. I couldn't go down for a few days when y'all are gonna be in Florida visiting MIL." It's not like I hadn't thought of this before. I just couldn't justify cost and Mr. I really didn't want to go in the August heat. Which I understand. I've been there in August. UGH! :cool2:

Then my mom said these words and it totally changed everything...

"I wonder how many credits I am away from another free airline ticket. I'd fly down and keep the boys for you and Mr. I to go into the parks by yourselves and have a few date nights."

:listen:

Come again?

Seriously?

That would be awesome!

Then she volunteered to pay 25% of the same room or book two rooms at Value. Well..... privacy is great and all but if this momma gets a chance to stay at a Deluxe resort with her mom's AP Discount code and have her pay 25% on top of it, well privacy is overrated! :lmao:

So we are looking around at our options.... And since the cat's out of the bag as far as my ticker goes, we're gonna try to stay at Boardwalk.

I gave DH some choices and we both agreed that an Epcot resort would be awesome and that with the summer time and date nights, the location can't be beat. Plus I love the idea of walking along the Boardwalk with my honey after our date night on a hot summer night.

Now our original vacation was going to MIL's house in Jacksonville. We were gonna stop off along the way at New Orleans for a few nights. Well that plan went bye bye. We're gonna head to Orlando for 3 nights ahead of time and spend 3 nights at MIL's house and head home. We were already planning on driving so our little detour should work out just fine.

So to keep this little PTR straight, I'm gonna highlight everything about the August trip in a summer appropriate green and our Christmas trip details will be in a very merry red! Of course! This should help keeps things straight.

Edit : please see page 8 for trip 3's introduction!

I'll have more details for you guys soon!!

Thanks for reading! Comments are definitely welcome!

:goodvibes

Well...

I called and booked not one but two trips this afternoon.

Even though the August trip gets here first in my head I'm planning the December trip first because I've been planning it longer.

Weird. I know.

So December first-

I booked Wilderness Lodge  for Dec 17-23 using a handy dandy PIN code I got in the email last week. Mom does have an AP but the AP discount isn't out yet, and I've read that often, historically, the AP discount doesn't extend past the switch from value to holiday season (typically the weekend we'd be arriving) and I'd hate to mess around and there be no AP code to be had. And since the PIN code had to be booked by May 24th, I wasn't taking any chances.

I did get a standard room for all 6 nights, added mom and sister and the two boys and have 7 days to call back with someone's cc to pay the deposit once I talk to mom and sis and decide who wants it. I'm thinking mom will volunteer because of her airline points. And of course we'll pay her back. We're splitting the room 40/30/30 with me paying the 40 because of Dash. Jack-Jack is free.

If an AP rate comes out that is a better deal than 40% off, we'll have to rebook and cancel since the PIN code is in my name but she's the AP holder. Oy VEY! Obviously if there isn't availabilty 40% isn't too shabby! She got 45% off for this trip but I'm somehow doubting they'll offer that over Christmas.

Why WL you ask?

Well, the CM asked me the same thing. The answer is... when I was 13 we went at Christmas. The only other time I've been at Christmas officially. (been in Nov and early Jan when it was decorated). We went resort hopping on our arrival day and ended up at the fairly new WL. This was 17 years ago afterall. It was all decorated for Christmas and it was just beautiful. I guess it made an impression because it's been my dream Christmas resort ever since. As I explained to the CM, I'm not a beach mai tai Christmas kinda girl. I can totally see myself in a cabin in CO or WY for Christmas but not Hawaii or New Orleans... Make sense??

I told the CM to put down OCD as the reason we choose WL for the resort. :rotfl:

So that's taking care of!! WOO HOO! :santa:

Then, with the same CM, I booked Boardwalk for 3 nights in August using Mom's AP discount and booking that room in her name to use her code. We got a standard room in the Inn and the deposit is due within 7 days. Again, gotta see if my mom wants it on her card for the airline ticket credits thing.

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled to see if they increase the AP code up to 45% for Deluxe like they did from Jan - June. 5% is 5%!

I'm still crunching numbers and starting to look at ADR options for August since that window is already open. As of now we're just looking at 2 days in the park and 1 day for marketplace. Then driving up to MIL's before too late on that Friday. :thumbsup2

So let's sum up:

Trip #1
When: December 17-23
Where: WL :lovestruc
Who: FGM, Edna, Dash, Jack-Jack and Me
Why: Because we love it, it's Christmas and we have some pretty important birthdays to celebrate!

Trip #2
When: August 3-6
Where: Boardwalk Inn :beach:
Who: Mr. I, FGM, Dash, Jack-Jack and Me
Why: Because my mom offered to watch the boys for Mr. I and I to have some alone time in WDW and we're gonna be in Florida anyway visiting MIL

Hope everyone's having a great day!!! :goodvibes

This is what I get for having a resort specific ticker!!!

So as I've been DISing and looking at menus on Allears and reading TGMs advice I kinda came to the conclusion that one day in the parks would probably be enough for our trip in August. There's a lot I'd like to do in DTD and restaurants I'd like to try that don't line up with being in the parks from open to close two days in a row. Plus with all the driving and the potential crowds and the definite summer heat, commando park touring sounds exhausting.

So as I was contemplating this new plan, I realized if we only go into one park it has to be Magic Kingdom. I mean that's quintessentially Disney for me and with the new fireworks and the ELP being back for the summer, it's a must do.

So we aren't going to be going into Epcot.

Which got me thinking why in the world are we staying in an Epcot resort if we aren't even going into Epcot?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to stay at the BW and hope to someday but we're not going to be staying there this time.

Nope.

I just called and modified our reservation and we are now staying at .....

***drum roll please***

The POLY!!!! pixiedust:

I am soooooooo excited. This means dole whippery and Tonga Toast (that I've yet to try) and a first night meal at Ohana if I can get it scheduled and monorail access (another first for me)!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

I feel bad, though, cus Mr. I was really looking forward to a night just the two of us in Epcot but it's too short of a trip to fit everything in. We'll have to save that for our next trip as a family. :thumbsup2 And I think I can make it up to him with the ADR I scored for our date night.

But I think I'll save the ADR posts for next time. Afterall, there are a few I need to switch around and add/cancel. :surfweb:

Oh and I went ahead and paid the deposit for our December trip!! :cheer2: Tour Guide Mike just posted Novembers schedule last week so I'm eagerly anticipating getting that itinerary nailed out once he posts December. Many more days to work with!

Thanks for reading and don't be shy!!! :flower3:

i found you! i'm so excited that you're going to be staying at the Poly, i know it's one of our must-tries and i'm soooo happy you're going there this summer (surely summer is a better time for lounging on the beach with a drink watching Wishes!) i'm super excited that you've got two more trips this year - although i still think a certain wedding up in Canada should be given some consideration, too.... :goodvibes

That is awesome that you are staying at the Poly! :cloud9: You will love it! :lovestruc Dole Whips and Tonga Toast any time you like. 'Ohana a short walk away. And right on the monorail, only a few minutes away from the MK! Awesome!!! :thumbsup2

Gawrsh, I'm jealous!! Two trips this year??

I want to check out Disney in October (Halloween) and December (Christmas, of course) because of all the beautiful pictures that I've seen on TR's here too.

I think I can swing it eventually, but not until 2012 at the earliest.:sad2:

I do love that in Canada, pulling the kids out of school for a week's vacation isn't that big of a deal.:thumbsup2

And I just checked and October flights are fairly reasonable from here. I'm not particularly interested in driving again. (Although if it's drive or not go, I pick drive.)

Now I just have to win the lottery so I can go back sooner!!:lmao:

Hmmm...I wonder if we could go any sooner if I left DH behind and brought my mom instead...:rotfl2:

Can't wait to hear about your ADR's...

I'll take the blame for your desire to go at Christmastime! You won't be sorry, it's AMAZING!! And I think the WL is the perfect place to stay, of all the resorts we visited that week, I thought WL felt the most Christmasy :santa: We were able to get an AP discount on our room, I don't remember what the % was since my TA took care of all of it, but I do know that the savings more than covered the cost of my AP.

And Woo Hoo for a quick August trip! I love the Poly, it's just so pretty :goodvibes

/
Welll.... I've been a busy little bee. So there are some changes to report.

For those that have read my PTRs before, you'll know this is not a big surprise! :rotfl:

First for August:

My MIL offered Mr. I and I her mini van. She's had it forever, it has 12000 miles on it but she's ready for a new car and doesn't think she'll get much for trade in anyway so she thought of us. :goodvibes We have one new-ish family vehicle and one old grandma car that Mr. I drives back and forth to work. So the mini van will be a welcomed addition to our family of cars.

There's just one issue.

Getting it from Florida to Texas.

Mr. I and I were talking and we (ok I) really didn't want to drive two vehicles back from FL for our road trip in August. Kinda defeats the purpose of a family vacation to drive 18 hrs in separate vehicles not to mention one adult in a car with two kids, cus I know the boys won't ride apart. Nooooooooo thank you!

We suggested that MIL drive back with us, caravaning, and then fly home but she didn't seem too keen on the idea. She said it would be too much to leave for a cross country trip right after having company for 3 days.

Well, after looking at the price of new tires for our new-ish vehicle (something that's needed for a cross country trip but not dire enough to replace if we're just puttering around our little town) and the cost of a hotel in Gulfport, MS (much higher than hotels in LA because of the casinos and beach) which is how far we'd need to drive to make it in to Disney on Tuesday at a decent time, well... :teacher: it was getting pricey.

Until like idiots we realized we could fly one way, take ME to Poly, ask MIL to pick us up in Orlando, drive us to her house then we could drive the mini van back.

:woohoo:

It worked!!

The one way flight was 119/person and we had a credit leftover from Dash's ticket back in January. So it cost us $500 to fly one way, and we'll save the 200 for the hotel down there, 175 for gas, 50 for food and 300 for two new tires (at least for now). :yay:

I love when my fuzzy Disney math works out.

Well....

ya know if we're flying we will get there a lot sooner.

Maybe soon enough to go in the park twice instead of once.

Maybe even late on the night before.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

So maybe we should add a day???

:rolleyes1

So a quick check on SW flights to find a late flight out Monday instead of Tuesday and a quick call to Disney later and we have airplane tickets and a ressie for 4 nights instead of 3!

:beach:

We're arriving Monday night at 11:40pm but I don't care!! We'll get an extra night at the Poly, an extra morning to try Tonga Toast, an extra date night maybe and now we're contemplating going into Epcot for day 2 afterall!

And FGM is going to fly down with us and stay a few nights later at Pop and try Disney solo!!

So now on to December!

I called today and tried to book VMCP for Friday Dec 17th, our arrival day, and they were SOLD OUT!

:scared1:

I had just called last week and they had limited availabilty so I knew I was taking a chance but I wanted to give my mom's cc a new billing cycle from all our deposits we just paid. I try to charge on mom's card whenever possible and just pay her cash cus she gets rapid rewards credits for SW airlines. Which we're trying to get more credits so she can fly for free in August.

I called back today and they were sold out!!!! :scared:

I tried Sunday, December 19th, the only other day we'll be there that has a VMCP and we got our tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :yay: :yay: :santa: :santa:

I'm a little concerned because it's the last party and on a weekend after school's let out but if it meant not going and going on a busy night, WE'RE GOING!

I'm super excited.

Does anyone have any experience with the last VMCP of the season, crowd level wise?

Y'all should have heard my mom's reaction when she heard the description of the party. She's on :cloud9:.
Her two favorite things Christmas + Disney with her family??? She's in heaven!

Not that I'm not. Believe me. I'm :cool1: doing my happy dance!

Will keep y'all posted!! Still haven't mentioned ADRs yet have I? Hmmmmm.:rolleyes1

Glad you found me twinnie!!!!

I'm so excited to be staying at the Poly too!! I'm scared it's REALLY gonna spoil me.

Wishes isn't showing this summer, fyi. It's something new called Summer Nighttastic! Should be fun to see something new but man I'm gonna miss Wishes.

I checked prices to Canada in October! I did! BUT :scared1: holy CARP! I think I'm gonna have to settle for being there in spirit!

That is awesome that you are staying at the Poly! :cloud9: You will love it! :lovestruc Dole Whips and Tonga Toast any time you like. 'Ohana a short walk away. And right on the monorail, only a few minutes away from the MK! Awesome!!! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your ADR's...

:lmao: at you scheming a trip with just your momma! That's the way to think outside the Disney box! :lmao:

I totally agree about driving. If it means not going or going and driving, I'll drive. Same thing with Pop. I will stay there in a heart beat if it means not going v. going and staying in Value. I like Pop. I just LOVE AKL and I'm thinking I'm gonna LOVE Poly.

Still can't wait to hear what you thought of AKL!

I'll take the blame for your desire to go at Christmastime! You won't be sorry, it's AMAZING!! It's all your fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There I gave you the blame! I'm so excited about WL at Christmas. To me, that's the quintessential Christmas resort. I'm glad someone else thinks the same thing! :thumbsup2

I'm hoping for an AP discount for Christmas but we're already booked on a 40% PIN. I'm thinking we're not gonna get much better than that even with AP discount.

I'm in. popcorn::

Can't wait to read about both trips! Sounds like fun! :surfweb:

:welcome:

I'm definitely having fun planning them both!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay for an extra night!!! :woohoo:

Just a little fyi in case you didn't know. Once the actual week of Christmas gets here and they stop doing the parties, the Christmas parade and Holiday Wishes are shown everyday in the MK. You could save your money and see them with your regular park admission later in the week. Of course, then you'd miss out on the dance parties and the cookies and hot chocolate.....

SoonerGirl is the reason I want to go at Christmas too! It's all her fault.

DH doesn't love Disney as much as the rest of us do but I don't think he'd be cool with us going down there without him. Last month's trip went a long way to getting him interested in going again instead of just resigned to it. Maybe the next trip will having him actually looking forward to it!!

Hooray, for a newish van and an extra night at the Poly. I love the fuzzy Disney math...I've got my Disney Accountant certification and it sounds like you do too...

:rotfl2:

I'm glad you were able to get VMCP tickets. Hopefully the crowds won't be horrendous that night...

Can't wait to hear more.

HOLY Disney Christmas Parade Batman!
I didn't know that!!

This is gonna sound silly but...

do they do the fake snow in the park for regular nights around Christmas?? That's the thing us TEXANS that never get snow at Christmas are looking forward to the most.

Plus, aren't the tickets non refundable so now that I've bought them.... ?

:sad2:

What kind of DISer am I for not knowing that!?!?!!?

:guilty:

I am totally making a Disney Accountant Certificate for our signatures once my signature clears out a bit! Running out of room! BUT I can find money from the weirdest places when I want to go to Disney! :rotfl:

Aggggg, I'm sorry - maybe I shouldn't have told you! I'd hate for you to have buyers remorse :guilty: I guess I didn't read closely enough, I didn't realize you had already purchased the tickets, I don't know if they would be refundable or not, my guess is not.

On the snow - yes, it snows every night on Main Street and on the Streets of America in DHS. I was so awesome to be standing there among the thousands of Osborne Lights and have the snow falling too :cloud9:

Disney Accountant Certification :lmao:

Pulling this PTR back off the shelf and dusting it off a bit.

Sorry it's been a while between updates. End of school and summer starting has made for a busy Gellybean!

Plus, believe it or not, I finaly finished my TR from our January 10 trip!!!! :cool1:

The link is in my siggie, but it has come to my attention that not everyone sees my siggie the way I do on my screen so here's the link again just in case anyone is interested that wasn't already reading!

Completed Jan 10 TR

Not much is happening on the PTR front. I bought a cute new notebook for planning. Kinda a Fivestar spiral notebook with a flex cover and a pocket in the front. I put some cute Disney stickers on the front. I'll try to get a pic taken of it and post it soon. I had a notebook that I used for the last two trips and I've filled it up. So I'll use this one for August and December and may end up with more room for future trips! I write the same things over and over again it seems, but I enjoy the process of it all and miss writing with pen and paper sometimes.

August Update:
I called and got FGM's two nights at Pop a few weeks ago and booked her plane ticket today online. She was trying to wait for 3 more credits on her Southwest credit card to get a free ticket but she was starting to worry about the flight filling up and not being able to fly with us, and decided that she'd be better off spending the money on the ticket and having a free ticket to use later on another trip to Disney in February. :lmao: What can I say? I am my mother's daughter.

I think in light of the lack of update on new information it might just be time to fill y'all in on our plans/ADRs for August. What do y'all think???

Tenative itinerary with meal plans for Day ONE:

Monday, August 2- fly out of Austin at 6:40pm, changing planes in Houston with only a 35 min layover.

I called SW and made sure such a short layover was ok and since it's Houston Hobby the gate will be next door and they'd most likely hold the second flight for the Austin flight because it's the last leg of the flight for the night. I could have changed the flight out of Austin to an earlier one. One that wasn't listed as a flight from AUS to MCO but I that I found when looking at flights from AUS to HOU. I guess they don't show every option flying between two close cities. Anyway the earlier flight would have put us in Houston 2 hours earlier but wouldn't have put us in Orlando any earlier. I'd rather not have 2 hours to wait at the Austin airport and then 2 more hours to wait at the Houston airport. So we're gonna take our chances and hope for clear skies and no plane delays.

Arrive in Orlando at 11:20pm!!!

If I remember correctly, this is too late for us to check our luggage straight through to the hotel so we'll have to go pick up our luggage and then head to ME. We're planning on packing light ish and washing clothes once we get to MIL's house. BUT we will check the luggage. I'm not gonna try to get the kids and 4 carryon's to switch planes in 35 mins much less get all the way to ME from the plane. Nooo thank you!

We'll check into Poly late and get some much needed sleep!

BUT not until after we check out Cap'n Cooks and get a late night treat! LOVE that it's open 24/7.

December update:
Our Christmas trip is kinda in limbo right now. I keep checking TGM over and over and he still hasn't opened up his touring days for the last 10 days in December. Our ADR window will be opening in within the week but honestly we're not looking at making many ADRs. It'll be a different sorta trip with FGM and Edna along and not Mr. Incredible.

I did get our Very Merry Christmas Party tickets in. :woohoo: :santa:

Don't worry about telling me Soonergirl, about the party in the park during normal hours closer to Christmas. I'm still glad we booked the party just to experience it and mark it off my To Do list. And we may not even make it back into the MK again the rest of the week if we can cover it all Saturday and Sunday. We're not planning on doing park hoppers anyway.

Now that being said I'm not telling my sister and mom about the same party without admission price available later in the trip! :rotfl:

Will update day two's plans soon!!

:goodvibes

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far!

I'm here!!! WOW I'm jealous of you getting to plan two trips. We did MVMCP a long time ago and we had a great time. As Bay Area CA family we don't get white christmases either so snow on Main Street was a blast.

I'm looking forward to being in on the PTR action.

I think you'll be fine on your connecting flight. Mom & I flew SW through Houston in May and we had a very short layover too. The gates were very close together, and we even had time to use the restroom before we had to board :thumbsup2

I'm here.

Sounds like you have two fabulous trips planned so far, can't wait to hear more about them! :goodvibes

I hopped over from your TR. :) You are so lucky to have two trips planned!! Can't wait to read more.

I know it seems like forever ago, but I'm pretty sure our January trips were in 2010 (your last post says '09). :goodvibes

Less than two months till the Poly! Lucky you! Can't wait to hear more!
