I joined yesterday. I really enjoy it so far.

DD is thrilled with it except for one thing; no "Trending" indicator; if they would just add that she would be a super-fan. The interface is very clean and well-designed.

As for me, I don't personally Tweet, and I also don't personally post to IG; I have accounts only to follow news feeds. I do have a work Twitter account that uses my real name and title, and if Threads becomes widely used by the higher ed world I'll need to add one on that platform, too. Work topics don't lend themselves well to photos, so I don't bother with a professional Instagram.

I'm sure the app isn't finished yet, and that new features will be added in the not too distant future.

Nope. I am only on Twitter and Facebook because I was required to be for my work. Rarely go to Twitter since I retired. No need to be on another site.

You could probably edit your name on IG and it would more than likely reflect that on the new app.

I joined yesterday-I like it so far. It imported all of the people I was following on IG, like Molly and Mammoth Club. It's not available yet for desktops (might never be), so I've got it on my phone.

I'll try that, but I think everything is now integrated in Meta.

Same here, so I haven't checked it out yet.

On the one hand, I wonder if we really need more social media?

But on the other hand, I'm kind of rooting for anyone competing with Twitter. (I don't like how it's run, and I don't have it.)

Also, the only way to delete your Threads profile is to delete your IG also. I'm not planning on signing up for it for a long while, if at all. I've only been on twitter since George Floyd happened so I could watch the videos of my hometown burning.

I had to unsync my FB account with the Insta account and was able to change my name.

I couldn't join yesterday for similar reasons. I think I will have to start a new Instagram account just to join Threads.

Don't do social media but did see the news about it. How is this different from instragram which is also run by FB? Seems most of these sites have become a place to argue with others and post nonsense or conspiracy theories. Can't be bothered with that sort of rubbish. Twitter has become a total dumpster fire so I expect other competitors to come along looking to gain users. I think the key issue for any social media platform is how you moderate the postings so it don't become a free for all. I don't think any of them have an answer for that and likely don't care since the more users they have the more they can charge for ads.

To me all of them are just chat rooms that make most of their money selling ad space.

I’ve never been able to figure out how to navigate Twitter and it looks like I’ll have the same issue with Threads so I’ll probably never use it. Still someone suggested signing up to reserve your username and since I get super annoyed when someone else uses WenRob I joined my account to IG.
