Thoughts on Whispering Canyon

We have not eaten at WC since 2004, our boys never ate here. We are going to be adding a night to our reservation and spending the last two nights at the Poly. I was thinking of booking a lunch reservation here since getting there from the Poly shouldn't be too hard. Is it still pretty good? Do the waiters/waitresses still do their silly antics? What would you recommend ordering?

We ate both lunch and dinner there last year and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere both times. Lunch was definitely laid back and kind of empty. Dinner was loud and very fun. At both times we saw antics but it was much more relaxed at lunch. I would recommend the skillet meal. My DH had it and loved it and he ended up getting seconds of his favorite items.

I found it to be pretty meh foodwise. My impression from the two times we ate there (when staying at WL) was that it was more fun with a big group, but nine year old boys might be the perfect customers! Some of the waitstaff is super into the gimmick and some not so much. I do think dinner is the better choice for the experience. And try to be seated in the main area.

We did dinner last time and liked it. It was busy and I think that added to the fun. We saw plenty of antics and laughed a lot.

These days, they will be pretty sensitive to whether you and your group want to be a part of the antics. If not, they will respect that. I am a big fan of the skillet meal, as it is basically a BBQ-fest, with a few different meats included. But even with that, the cornbread and salad are great, as are the mashed potatoes...and the kiddos love the corn on the cob and bottomless milkshakes (although the shakes come at an extra charge). Is it the best food at WDW? No, but at least for the few times we have been there, it has been consistently good, and the atmosphere really gives it an extra boost (if you like that sort of thing...there are plenty on here that do not enjoy that side of it, and even if your table is not really participating, it is still quite loud, so you still have to be able to tolerate it - ha!). I would go back in a heartbeat.

We ate there last year and wasn't impressed. Wouldn't dine there again.

Atmosphere is pretty cool if you haven't done that type of dining before. Food is average but it's not what I call horrible.

We ate there last December and it was alright. Not something I'd make an effort to repeat but not awful either.
They give you a card to put on the table to indicate if you want antics or want to be left alone.
We put the card down that we wanted antics but didn't get any.
Other than Ketchup bit, there were not any going on during the meal either.
I guess we hit a dud staffing

We had breakfast there last June. It was good, but for $17/person for the skillet (I think our total, after drinks, tax, and tip, was around $50), it's the same food you get on a bounty platter in the resort food courts, in my opinion. Next time I'll probably go a la carte. We'd like to try it for dinner sometime.

The atmosphere was a bit chaotic, although it was fun. Personally my fiance wasn't crazy about the antics so we did the red coaster side up, and we enjoyed our meal!

At Disney we've found, with the exception of many character restaurants, the more a restaurant depends upon atmosphere and or entertainment of the kids to attract business, the worse the food is. The one and only time we ate there, the swill was very below average.

I like Whispering Canyon; both the atmosphere including the antics as well as the food. Would I call the food great? No... But I would say that it is good. I have been there several times, and while it may not be a must do of ADR's each time I go back to WDW, it is one I have been to several times and is one I will return too. Overall I enjoy the Skillet; the pork ribs are good (not great), the pulled pork is good (little fatty for me the last time though), really liked the roasted chicken, the roasted beef was good, the mashed potatoes were good. I was not real crazy about the corn or the cornbread. Many enjoy the endless shakes which can be used as a drink credit on the DDP and I enjoy the Apple- Caramel Pie for dessert.

The one thing I really don't like about Whispering Canyon Cafe is that I always walk out of that place about 2 lbs heavier and takes me several days and dozens of miles running to burn it off.

We really enjoyed WCC, it was the favorite of DH and the kids. Not a ton of antics but the ketchup thing never got old to my kids
DH and I both thought the food was good. Kids got kids meals, which are always the same to me.

We were there this passed August for a late lunch and the food was really good. We were one of only 3 tables there so needs to say the service was great but it was very mellow. No antics or anything. Our waiter stopped by the table and talked to us a few times and we joked around but that is all. I would think about going back there again since the food was really good.

This is one of the restaurants I try to get to every time I visit. The food is not phenomenal, but it's not bad. I return because it has been the most consistent for me on great service.

The first time I was there our server realized that everyone but myself were first timers to the world so he kept coming around to make sure they were having a magical time.

On my most recent trip for my nieces birthday we went and I was afraid it was going to be a disaster. My niece had been having a bad attitude all day but the server was amazing. My niece could not decide on what flavour of milkshake she wanted so the server brought out little tiny shot glasses of the options....my niece smiled for the first time at that. Then she said she didn't want anything on the platter so the server asked what my niece really felt like eating, and ended up making it happen.... who knew, chicken nugget pizza is an option (only my strange family would ever eat it)....I ended up leaving with a very happy 10 year old so I will definitely be going back on my next trip.
