Thoughts on when fireworks are returning

We have a trip booked for October and I am becoming increasingly pessimistic for a return to normalcy by then. I agree that the reduced offerings in the parks are a money saving tactic and Disney has A LOT of money to recoup. I am thinking maybe Epcot will get HarmoniUS up and running by fall but that would be the only night entertainment available in 2021. I am hoping I am wrong but planning a backup vacation in case!

Hopefully sooner rather than later. I realize it’s a money saving technique, but we can’t be the only family waiting on a trip and willing to drop thousands of dollars into their hands as soon as they bring fireworks, parades, etc. back.

Fireworks, shows, restaurants, resorts, parades, meet n greets, monorails, reduced hours are just some of the experiences currently not available. Of course these are closed to save money. From a safety standpoint, Disney could have every restaurant open. That would disperse people further, and be safest. But, they need to try to operate their business while minimizing financial loss. They, like every business, are balancing covid restrictions with business operations.

When will these experiences return...when vaccinations increase, then covid cases will decrease, then restrictions can be reduced, then capacity limits can increase, then some experiences will return, gradually over time.

How long? I think that's our frustration. This has already lasted far longer than we all expected. The vaccine distribution does not seem to be gaining momentum as we hoped.

Every day I just keep hoping for some more positive news than expected. But, it just keeps extending the timeline.

Sorry, not trying to sound preachy. just venting frustration.
I think a return of these experience over the summer is optimistic.
It’s the traditional cleft stick, isn’t it. Anyone travelling a distance (and particularly from overseas, when overseas visitors are allowed into the US again) is likely to hold off until the full experience has been restored, on a sort of ‘cost/benefit’ basis, but Disney needs as many people as they can safely get into the parks now in order to boost the company finances so they can afford to restore the missing stuff. This is actually a frighteningly long-term issue and I wonder if ‘full service’ at WDW will be restored anytime in the next 4 - 5 years... 🙁

Disney eliminated thousands of workers so as things ramp back up it won't be overnight, it has hire people and train people, which will take time.

Disney no doubt will be taking an even harder financial look at everything they do as larger crowds return, so some previous experiences may never be back.

This may not be all negative. It also will create the opportunity to create new experiences that may be better than some of the old standbys.

True enough. I’m just an old curmudgeon who doesn’t like change... 😊

Seriously, though, I think the Powers That Be in the Disney organisation will have to do something to attract more people back especially if prices are going to be held at their present levels - or increased.

I actually feel rather sorry for Josh D’Maro at the moment - through no fault of anyone he’s inherited something of a poisoned chalice...

He also has a tremendous opportunity to remake things the way he wants them -- in many ways starting with a blank slate. In normal times he would likely have not gotten that opportunity because of the snail's pace that Disney usually moves.

He's a Disney veteran, so I would think that would help him with the decisions he will be making.

Since this doesn't really help with the topics on this board im closing.
There's a fireworks rumor thread in the news and rumor board
