Thoughts on using ART

We have a reservation at a Residence Inn that uses ART to get to DLR. Should we plan on using ART or driving our car every day? It has been many years since I have been to Disney and don't remember the parking situation.

I don't know if the ART is still this way but in Aug of 06 they would block out part of the early afternoon with no shuttles. It was kind of a hassle for us we would have to leave the park earlier then we would have like to get back to the hotel for a break.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn, not sure if that had anything to do with it or if it is even still that way.

I think it depends if you have kids, stroller or will be going back and forth from the park.

If you have a stroller I would strongly suggest not using ART. It is a PITA!!! You can also plan for your trip each way to take anywhere from 30-60 minutes, depending on the amount of stops and how long you have to wait for it. Also at the end of the day the shuttles are VERY crowded. You may have to wait for a whole round trip before you are able to get on. The last thing you want to do when you are ready to be back at your hotel is sit and wait for the art, especially if you have tired little ones.

We stayed at the Residence Inn Garden Grove and parked one day at the lot and took the ART the last 2 days. We parked at the lot the first day (w/free parking with aaa parkhoppers) and decided it was just too time consuming and a hassle that we used ART on the last 2 days. We don't have any kids in strollers so that wasn't an issue for us. It really is a PITA if you have one. There was a lull of service in the middle of the day (lunch break?) so we did have to plan around that.

We stayed at the Residence Inn last February and we actually walked every day. My kids were 6 and 4. We had a stroller so at least one could ride. The walk there was okay as we used it as a way to get them a little excited but the walk home was a long one sometimes. We also didn't go back and forth we stayed all day. If we stayed there again I would use the ART to at least get home for what it costs. When we stayed at the Sharton in December we used the ART every trip to DL and we never had an issue with it or it not running.

What was your thought on that hotel?

Are you asking about the Sharton? We loved it. The hotel was quiet there was never anyone in the pool. The restaurants were decent. They have a little deli that makes pizza it was yummy. We even walked the last morning because we wanted to EE oops MM and we beat the ART and were first in line at the gate.

We also loved the Residence Inn as well. Although part of me wished we had a top floor because we had really noisy people above us. But the front desk took care of it and we never had an issue again. The breakfast buffet is great and a real money saver. Plus the kitchen is great especially with little kids. And having a separate bedroom was nice. It allowed us to stay up later and a place for them to watch tv so we could sleep a little later lol.

Enjoy your trip. If you have any questions just ask aways.
