Thoughts on Rainforest - AK?

We're looking for table service, but not too ethnic (picky eaters) and not $$$$. I thought about Rainforest, but those burgers are expensive. Are they worth it? Restaurantosaurus has cheaper burgers, but they're not TS.

So are the Rainforest burgers (and other food) worth the price?

So I'm paying for atmosphere and the chance to have appetizers or the more expensive items. My boys will go for the burgers and fries. But they'd go for that at QS, as well. If it's essentially the same thing, maybe I should pass.

We eat there every trip, either at AK or at DS. Yup, food is pricey but the portions are large. We don’t get the burgers, so i can’t speak to them. The food is good though, fresher ingredients than an Applebees type restaurant IMO. Drinks are good.

Last trip, my husband got a meal and I got a small Caesar salad and we split them as our meals and we were good.

Unless you're there for the atmosphere and experience, then I'd skip it and eat somewhere else. There are too many better places to eat ay Disney.

What about the steaks and shrimp?

Also, do you exit the park to eat there? Do you have to tap in and go through security again to go back after lunch or dinner?

I agree with PP's. The food is really akin to an Applebee's. You are paying for atmosphere and location.

Yes, Rainforest is outside the park and you will have to go through security and tap in again when you are done eating.

Our kids LOVE Rainforest and we visit every trip. Every restaurant at Disney is priced a little high but the atmosphere is great for kids. I've had some great shrimp dishes and my husband loves the burgers.(He loves Applebee's as well) Have a great trip.

We always have lunch there every trip. I enjoy the China Island Salad. Near the end of the path before you get to the main exit is an opening on your right and you follow it and will be entering through the gift shop and walk through to the podium. You would come out the same way to get back into the park. It is very quick as you are not going to the main gate and security.

If you don't have a Rainforest Cafe in your area than I think it's worth going. I've never had any complaints with the food and the theming is really great. The only reason we don't go is because there's one right by our house, otherwise I think we'd end up going every trip.

Personally, I'd skip this place. You're paying for the ambiance/environment, which, you're gonna be in WDW for pete's sakes! There are better themed restaurants with better food than Rainforest. Full disclosure: I'm biased because I got an awful bout of food poisoning from them a couple years ago! Yuck.

You can't really compare it to Restaurantasaurus because one is Table Service and one is Quick Service. We had lunch at Rainforest Cafe a few years ago on our Animal Kingdom day and I thought it was really good. I believe my DH had a burger and I had a chicken sandwich. Yes, it is more expensive than Applebees or Chilis, but you are in a themepark.

Of course it's not worth the price, but you'll find that to be true all over WDW. The food is good enough to stave off hunger pains so if you haven't been to RFC, it's worth a look. However, if you're hoping to keep the food bill down, QS will help a little.

I don't think I can count very many restaurants at Disney that are truly "worth the price" based on food alone. You are paying a premium because you are eating at the biggest theme park and tourist destination in the world. Having said that, we always enjoy Rain forest Cafe. We do not have one nearby so to us, it's a Disney place and my kids love the atmosphere and theme. I think the food is pretty good and the menu is huge. If cost is the major concern, maybe quick service would be a better choice.

It's the one restaurant I refuse to go to after they undercooked my shrimp...and decided fair compensation was to knock the price by one third

That's what I ate!!!! Shrimp!!!! An hour after my meal I was chained to the toilet, and won't go into detail, but yeah.....I didn't know you could get food poisoning so quickly, but I googled different types of food poisoning and a certain strain comes from shellfish and side effects can come as early as 1-2 hours. I reported the food poisoning just so they'd be aware and they didn't even offer anything....granted this was the Rainforest I have here in MI.

It was the one in DS. I ordered shrimp three ways and didn't like the breading on one of the ways, so I removed the breading to find shrimp that was nowhere near the proper color.
