Thoughts on November vs. December?

Looking at the second couple of weeks leading up to Thanksgiving for a Fort W. stay, as the rate is not so terrible at that time. I'm thinking that the decorations should be up in most places by then, right? But, I also am looking at the first week in December, as the Epcot Holiday falderal should be going, and I would love to go to the Candlelight Processional....

Is there such a difference between those two times? The December dates are about $30 - $58/night more expensive than the November dates.

Other than the difference in rates, the December dates would have more decorated campsites.

As for the parks, only Magic Kingdom would be decorated in November. The Epcot Festival of the Holidays begins the day after Thanksgiving and most resort holiday decorations go up around that time too.

As for the crowds, the parks may be more crowded in early December. For November, as long as you stay away from Thanksgiving week, you should be okay.

Hollywood Studios would also be decorated in early November due to the holiday party there. Animal Kingdom is typically completed after MK and DHS, but before Epcot. Epcot is typically decorated by Thanksgiving week, although there could be final touches to festival booths up until Thursday. It’s not like the old days, where everything changed overnight from Halloween to Christmas, but there are more parks and resorts now than there were then as well.

Some resorts may be decorated. The resorts are done on sort of a lottery system, so some of them are decorated much earlier than others. Typically they are done by Thanksgiving week, so some would be done in early November or they wouldn’t all be done in time. Sometimes there is a thread here on the DISboards that has a list of which resorts have been completed, in case you want to do some resorts hopping.

Campsites at FW in early November can be a mix of Halloween and Christmas, with Halloween dwindling as guests leave after the holiday. We are going to FW in early November and planning to bring some Christmas themed decorations even though we are checking out before Thanksgiving. We are going to holiday parties and want the feeling of Christmas at our cabin as well. We are hoping WL gets an early decorating slot so we can see their tree while we are there.

Lots of food for thought! I really like the idea of the lower rates for November, but I also wonder if I would miss all the good Christmasy things. So much to think about!
