Thoughts on my decision- WL vs. AKL

If you do decide to stay at AKL be sure to mention or try to put on the reservation the "event" without the gf noticing...it really will increase your chance of getting an upgrade...and it seems that happens more frequently than at other resorts. (At least in my experience and I get that impressions from these boards too!)

We've stayed at WL several times and AKL once and definitely prefer WL. We found the transportation at AKL to very SLOW (always waited at least 1/2 hour...usually more...for a bus. Probably because it's further away from the other parks. We paid extra for a savannah view room, and except for when we checked in, we hardly ever saw any animals. Overall, we were pretty disappointed with AKL. We rarely had that problem at WL. The boat to Magic Kingdom is convenient and fun. Also, we've had woods view rooms on the MK side where we saw the fireworks (an unexpected treat!) Overall, we feel WL is much more romantic.

What a beautiful way to propose. I would post a question on the resturant board about your PS time. From everything I have read you probably will not be seated before the fireworks. Any one still there at 7:45 will probably linger to see the fireworks themselves. It would really be a bummer if you missed out on your plans.

If you can stand one more opinion......I was really caught by the fact the gas station kind of turned you off from AKL.
Our woods view at WL had pine trees for sure and clearly through the thin row of trees was where the semis backed up to the lodge and a garage was there and other working parts of the lodge. We could see the fireworks very far away...The big windows overlooking the lake and pool were always extremely fogged over. Our mousekeeper was wonderful the rest of the staff less so. The bus was usually a very long wait to go anywhere, but this didn't bother us as we weren't in any hurry...still we tried to avoid the bus.
As for the boats...couldn't you maybe have breakfast at Kona Kafe and then enjoy the boats at the Poly?

Wow, I never knew there were so many options to choose from. One of the many reasons why I love Disney. Due to everyone's reccomendation, I had my PS changed to 7:15pm just to play it safe. I really appreciate everyone's opinions. My friends were bothering me about the gas station part, but I guess I should not look at pics anymore and just go with gut instinct. Thanks everyone again!
