Thoughts on flying Frontier (esp out of Trenton NJ?)

If this was a roundtrip ticket than it should be a DOT complaint. By law when a carrier cancels a flight they are required to refund the entire ticket, not just one direction.
Neither with Southwest, I believe JetBlue will only interline with American. Are you going to not fly those two airlines for the same reason?

Personally I won't fly any of the ULCC's to somewhere it really matters if and when I get there. I want options if things go sideways. For a purely pleasure trip, I would consider them.
Frontier, from some airports, only operates some flights a few times a week. Some airports Frontier only operates a couple flights a day. It could take days to accommodate you. Jet Blue and Southwest have a much more robust schedule. Southwest and Jet Blue have more opportunities to accommodate you. You may wind up with a double connection or an indirect connection but you'll get to where you're going.

Which is why I suggested booking a round trip ticket and not 2 one way tickets.

Yes, it was round trip booked at the same time.
They must count on their stressed, tired customers not knowing this information.
Another reason not to fly Frontier.
