We're throwing around the idea of a trip in September for my parents 30th Wedding Anniversary. It would be my parents, sister and brother inlaw, and myself. We usually stay offsite but are thinking about renting points to stay in a 2 bedroom villa as a DVC. We are thinking about the Beach Club because we love the idea of being so close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and if were going to splurge to stay on property, we want to me in the middle of it all. I've read up a lot on the BC in the threads on here and also on other websites. I'm just looking for some advice. We also looked into BWV but I read a lot of negative things about there. Also, any advice on the different views. I read that it doesn't really matter as much there as other places. Any help?

The BCV's are great!!! It is my favorite of all the villa's and you can't beat the location. As for the views, they are nice, but nothing to get to excited about. They are mostly woods or of the quiet pool. Some higher floors you can see some fireworks. Since it is a small resort, the rooms are harder to get. Are you going to rent thru disney or a DVC member? If you can't get the BCV's try BWV's. Don't put to much into the negetive reviews. It is a great resort as well.

I don't think you can go wrong with BCV. We rented points and stayed there (a studio) in Sept 2010 and loved it. There really aren't what I would call "great" views but then there aren't bad views either. We thought it was funny to leave Canada and have a nice view of Canada from our balcony. Can't escape home.:goodvibes It was nice as we could watch the Epcot fireworks from our bed. The only thing we asked for was a full balcony not realising that all villa rooms have full balconies. We loved it there. In fact we are going back this year starting the end of August into the 1st week of Sept (9 nights) in a 1 bedroom. I don't think you can go wrong with BWV but admittedly we haven't stayed there. Either resort is a fantastic location. Good luck!

We love the BCV because of the location. The rooms are nice for the space, the decor is "lived in beachy" .The views are mediocre..The woodview side has an obstructed Epcot view, the pool view is a view of the quiet pool and there is a view of the BC resort driveway..We don't love the views but we do love this resort and stay here almost every visit

Thanks for the input. We are going to try and rent from a DVC member. I didn't know you could rent through Disney. Or is it the same way just booking online like a normal hotel?

haha thats great that you got a view of Canada! I wouldn't mind be able to watch the fireworks from bed :rolleyes1 Maybe we will see you in September!

I don't think I will request anything. I was going to request a full balcony, but thats good to know I don't have to do that since they all have them.

You can rent BCV through Disney just like a hotel but renting through a DVC member is much, much cheaper. That's what we do.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize you could rent through Disney. How do you go about that? We will probably just look into renting from a DVC member to keep costs lower.

we own at both BCV and BWV, but prefer BWVS.
BWVs are quieter within the resort itself, with sooooooo very much to do right outside. BW view is especially amazing (seeing spaceship earth and watching illuminations from your balcony) - "EPCOT" view from the BCV includes a busy service road, and glimpses of illuminations above treetops.
we find BCV better for very little ones (they have character meals, with all the accompanying noise), and BWV better for adults and older kids, who like a lot of variety and options.

Those are good points as well. I would love to really be able to see Spaceship Earth and the fireworks. Do all the villas have views of EPCOT?

You can book a 2 bedroom villa right online through Disney's website. Just make sure you select Beach Club Villas rather than Beach Club Resort. However, if you can, through Disboards rent/trade DVC thread, find an owner who has enough points and is willing to rent I would highly recommend that way. For instance, we will be renting a 1 bedroom from 29 Aug-7 Sept. If I were to book through Disney the rack rate (non-discounted) would be $5063.00 - room only, no park tickets, no meal plan. I rented from a DVC owner for the same dates 276 points @ $11.00/point which equals $3036. So as you can see it is quite a bit cheaper. Again this relies on you locating an owner with enough points for what you require. It is certainly worth investigating.

Do you still get regular housekeeping though?

You do if you rent directly from Disney. If you rent through a DVC owner then trash and towel service or full clean is on every 4th day of your reservation. You can ask for services on additional days - say every other day or every day (whatever you choose) at an additional fee - can't remember what that is. But honestly, getting a clean towel every single day or a daily clean for us certainly isn't worth an extra $2027 - in our case.

I meant to add that if you go to http://www.tagrel.com/util/dvcCalculator.php?site=tag and plug in your dates and resort you can determine how many points you need for your 2 bedroom. It's helpful to shop out the cost difference between renting from Disney and renting from a DVC owner.

Great, Thanks. Yes, It would be about 5500 for a 2 bedroom in Sept. If I could rent points at $11, it would be about 3000. I will definitely look into renting points. Thanks so much for your help!

Do you still get regular housekeeping though?

As the pp stated, you would have to pay extra for daily housekeeping if renting from a dvc owner. I was trying to find the information I was reading the other day, but can't. I think I read that it was $5 per day for trash/towels and $30 for a full cleaning. Thats if you want more then what comes with it.

If you are looking for this September, you had better rent right away since as soon as you pass the 7 month mark there will be little availability.

Even BCV points you whould be able to get for $10/pt or less.

Here is a good set of room information including view pictures

BW view rooms have the best views (they are only available for booking with DVC points tho). BW view villas comprise about 20% of the resort. you can see parts of wishes normally also from your balcony. many have posted pix of the view - it's truly amazing :cloud9: just a sample:

for the same amt of points, pool/garden .(60% of resort) might have a partial view of fireworks but overlooks exactly what the name says (the rooms overlooking village green are P/G view, but have a partial of the BW) standard view .(20%) costs less, and has views of the front of the resort - some very high fireworks.
hth :)
