Thoughts for a new sticky as well as a new board (or sub board) on FL Resident Rates

Since many people are looking for info on how to get a FL resident rate, maybe there should be a sticky on the subject. We can have a link that takes them to Disney's offical web site, they can put in their FL zip code & all the info they will need can be found there. If there are still questions that cannot be answered from that site, we can list a number for them to call Disney at to ask them directly. Seems to me that there are many that do not live in Fl asking for the info & I see it going into arguments (happening now to something I posted). If someone is truly entitled to the discount, then by all means they should get it, but if they aren't they shouldn't be asking us how to do it. I see posters telling others how to get your FL ID when not living in FL, maybe we can also post a link to the DL division & DMV so they can find out the info there. Also the sticky should include that just because you have family in FL, you cannot get the rate unless the Florida resident books it for you... I would be more than happy to get the links & post them if we can do this. I am tired of fighting with posters over Fl resident things. Seems to be happening a lot lately here. It was never this bad, maybe a sticky will help with the bickering???? Anyone else in agreement??? Can we do this???

Something else to really consider is a FL resident board. Seems we do have many things in common with each other (hurricanes, traffic, gas etc) & it can help all us Floridians out. When we post something for everyone to read, if they don't agree with it, they jump on us. The CM's have a private board, can't we run ours like that? Many of us when we registered, listed where we lived. Is there a why to link it thru that. I know when I applied for the CM board, I had to submit (in email) my store number. Maybe we can submit our county & zip but have it linked to our profile so we aren't just putting in our relatives zips to get in?
I can remember last year when we were hit hard with the storms, there were posts about people upset that their vacation was ruined because a CM didn't cater to their every whim. I think sometimes that some (not all) people do not look at Florida as a state where people work & live, but only of a vacation or retirement state. We aren't that anymore. We are a growing (and very fast at that) economy... not just from tourism dollars either. I for one do not like when someone tells me that I have a choice to live here & I should deal with the traffic & all the other tourism problems. That is uncalled for...The state of Flordia is growing so fast that it is having problems keeping up with it's residents never mind the added tourists (roads are too small, heaven forbid there was a mass evacuation where I live, I wouldn't be able to get out unless I left days ahead of time with the way the roads are & the growing population living here). I think there are enough of us on this board from FL that we can make a Florida Resident board work.... can we get one????
To those of you not from Fl, please don't respond by saying we are selfish, or we don't need it, or what about getting one from the state you are in, or what makes us so special... those are the reasons we want one & need one. We don't need people telling us that we get too many discounts or that we have had our fair share of them if we post about getting something. We aren't coming to your state & then knocking you down. Please don't do it to us. ...

The problem with stickies is that most people don't read them. If someone wants to put the information in a post we can try it for awhile and see what happens. Some people don't like to see the top of the board filled up with stickies.

As far as having a Florida board you should send an email to the webmasters. It is up to them whether or not a new board can be created.

Thanks for the info. When I get home from work today, I will get the links for the DLD, DMV & WDW. You are right about people not wanting to read the sticky's. Some would rather ask than search. I will also email about having an FL board. Thank you once again

This is not a code or resort topic. I understand some of you are interested in a new board, however this is not the place to ask for it.

You are more than welcome to request from the webmasters anything you would like to see as a part of the DIS or the DISboards.
However the boards are here for discussions that are relative to the subject of the board.
