Thoughts and Prayers for Friend's Surgery Please *Updated!

My friend and coworker for 24 years had a series of tests the week before Christmas, and they discovered a fluid-filled mass in her abdomen, as well as a small ovarian cyst. Martha's local doctor was concerned enough to get her in to see a gynecological oncologist in Atlanta on Christmas Eve. She's scheduled for surgery today at 2:30, and expects to follow-up with a series of chemotherapy treatments over the next few months.

Please keep Martha in your thoughts and prayers.

I talked to Martha's husband late last night, and he said she came through the surgery very well. The surgeon was very positive and optimistic; he removed both ovaries (she'd had a partial hysterectomy some time back) and anthing else suspicious. She'll be in "semi-intensive" care for a couple of days, and may be able to come home by this weekend.

Martha's supposed to start chemotherapy in about 4 weeks - they said 6 treatments about 3 weeks apart. We're hoping that's going to take care of it.
