Thoughts after a week of QSDDP with alcohol

We just finished up our week here with the qsddp that now includes alcohol or other specialty drinks when offered. We were disappointed in the lack of choices and would not pay for it again. We have been to Disney over 60 times and visit 3-4 times a year so really know our way around. There were a few stand out places that allow several mixed drink options, Mexico, The Polite Pig and our resort pool bar but most offered beer or wine. If a restaurant had one mixed drink or even sangria we were over the moon. We found we really had to go out of our way, sometimes choosing between the food we wanted and the drink selections. If you are happy with beer and wine it's a great option, if not you are better off paying out of pocket for sure.

That's what I figured. We are looking at possibly going in September if we get free dining. There are few QS places that have food our boys will eat, plus an alcoholic drink we would like. We don't drink beer at all and wine very little.
So, if we get free dining, I would consider any drinks we could get that we actually liked, a bonus. I definitely wouldn't pay for the plan, there's no way we'd get our money out of it.

We are here now using the DDxP. I swear the drinks have less alcohol in them but maybe that's my imagination. Or my tolerance.

Any good drinks you have found on DxDP. We arrive Sat. and wondered where to try sans kids for lunch or dinner. Thinking of skipper canteen for dinner.

Honestly my general rule of thumb is nothing that comes out of a machine/pitcher (premixed margaritas, slushies, etc). Beyond that it is really a crapshoot depending on the bartender I assume. We only did DDxP 2 of our 4 night trip and got drinks at Flying Fish, Tiffins, Rose & Crown, and Biergarten. Tiffins was probably the worst drink and Rose & Crown was I guess the best because you can order a 2 ounce pour of their whiskeys <$14 or so. The pour seemed generous. Unfortunately that was hands down the worst meal of the trip so :confused3.

We did not enjoy Rose and Crown last trip and hostess made us wait for an hour past our reservation while we looked at open available table telling us it was taken. They seated us inside and no one ever took the table outside next to our other party in our group. I always enjoy the bar there though.

Based only on menus (disclaimer: I haven't been to Disney since the addition of alcohol in the dining plan has been in place) it seems like resorts and Disney springs have much better alcohol selections than the parks.

Qs locations have always had limited booze options. You can't expect full bar options at a counter without a bartender
