Thoughts about new CDC guidelines and how it might affect your Disney vacation.

I'm to the point of "let's all adult" my state is on the verge of "clear" meaning we can re-open. Masks at business discretion. Do I want to wear the darn mask ... nope. But I will if a place of business requires it. I'm still waiting for an official "all clear" and at that point I plan to have a giant bonfire and burn every last mask. - oh and I'm postphoning my trip to WDW until the end of 2022. hopefully all will be normal by then.

Our state of Minnesota just (yesterday) removed the mask mandate, except for hopsitals/doctors office. Yea!
I hope your state follows soon. It's so great not to have to wear them. Went to town today and I saw more smiles and happy people than I have in a long time.

I highly doubt they will be telling parents anything. I bet they'll leave masking up to the discretion of the parents.

I actually read Disney's site wrong. They aren't following the CDC guidelines on where only vaccinated can have the option, it's anyone. So Disney will not be asking 12 and under to mask up

From what I've read, masks aren't being required in temporary outdoor overflow queue space, but as soon as guests get to the "proper" queue, they're being asked to put on masks regardless of whether the queue is outdoors.

Think of it like smoking. If you're in a queue, even if it's outside, the smoke is still going to bother you a lot if you have to stand right next to them. If they were wearing a mask though then it wouldn't be as bad.

A bright blue French Smurfette chain smoking in the line for Space Mountain at Eurodisney's Halloween party will forever be etched in my mind.

That is not how I'm understanding it. To me it sounds as if once you enter the queue at any spot you need to put your mask on.

The reports I've been reading from people who are there today said that they weren't asked to mask up until they got to the permanent part of the queue.

Going by Maryland vaccine number has nothing to do with the vaccination rate of employees in an agency.

I watched the video and no one said of those who haven't gotten it have "decided against taking it". There could be a host of reasons why they haven't gotten it. Maybe they aren't going to, maybe they just haven't yet. And it was just an estimate in their opinions -- they don't know. To say that that's scientists not trusting science is a BIG stretch -- we have no idea.

So, on a side note, Publix stopped requiring masks for vaccinated folks today -- so, for the first time since they've required masks, I didn't wear one this morning. Many employees weren't wearing masks for the first time, but many were (and not who you'd think). I suspect the store is making their employees who have "decided against taking the vaccine" to continue wear the mask. At my office, we'll be going back full-time in June and I've heard rumors that the unvaccinated will still have to wear masks.

Back to Disney, absolutely thrilled that we won't have to wear masks outdoors on our trip in a few weeks!

If you work for the FDA, CDC, or NIH and haven’t gotten one by now, it’s because you chose not to get it. It would be like working at a doctor’s office and still not getting it by now.

So many people in Ohio rejected it that we were one of the first states to vaccinate lower and lower age groups a d occupations.

Definitely not true for this Floridian. I live just north of Winter Haven & work in Lakeland & majority have been wearing masks everywhere I go including my place of business. Maybe depends on location - Florida's a big state .

We live an hour away to the east and people definitely wear masks here

We didn’t see anyone wearing them on the beach sitting around on the social distanced beach chairs when we stayed several times in the Panhandle area. Everyone in the nearby Publix store and other retail stores we visited were wearing masks.

Well considering Publix, Walmart, Costco , Trader Joe’s, Starbucks and more have announced today no more masks required indoors, pretty sure more stores will follow in the coming days.

That should prepare me for indoors maskfree at Disney whenever that becomes allowed

I was at AK today. My family is fully vaccinated and we did not wear a mask today if we didn’t have to. It made a huge difference! We didn’t need masks in the parking lot, on the pathways, through security, at the tapstiles. However, there was very strict mask enforcement in areas where you needed to wear a mask. And it had to be over your nose and mouth! As soon as you reached this sign in a queue, there was strict enforcement.

Up until that sign, yes. After the sign, it’s a big no and policed by cm. After that sign, your mask must be on, covering mouth and nose and remain that way until after you ride an attraction and are outside the exit of said attraction.

If it’s too dangerous to take a sip of water and put your mask back on while waiting in 100F heat, it’s too dangerous for the park to be open.


Not only that, you’d be a denier of science, because suddenly, everyone believes in science.
