Those with 4 year olds...what are they doing for the summer?

My daughter is 2, but she'll be in a summer camp 4 hours a day for 7 weeks. After having her in preschool since September, I really didn't think I could occupy her in the same way by keeping her home with me all day. I'm pregnant and have been very sick and exhausted with this pregnancy so I really just can't do the things with her that we did last summer. Staying at the playground in the heat for hours at a time is not something I can do this summer, and staying in our townhouse all day doesn't sound like much fun for her so off to camp she goes. She really enjoys going to preschool everyday so I'm hoping she likes her camp just as much.

I have other children too. So far, definately swimming lessons, swim at pools, 2 or 3 VBS', tag-along to the kids' older activities and a couple of organized play dates.

Daycare! I'm another of those evil working Moms! LOL :)

I haven't scheduled much for this summer, since I wasn't sure where we'd be living (I'm graduating college and taking a new job).

Last summer, at 3 1/2 - he took swimming lessons, played T-ball and went to at least 3 different week-long vacation Bible schools. That's pretty much it - but I live in nowheresville, so there's not THAT much to do for young'uns. :)

My girls are older now, but at 4 I know they took swimming lessons, attended Vacation Bible School, and played a sport. They loved the activity and we didn't have neighborhood kids to play with. Of course we ate plenty of popsicles while we were slip n slidin' too!! :)

5 day a week daycare....Thusday night and Saturday morning soccer, and later in summer, swim lessons.

I'm pregnant too and I was put on bedrest with my first pregnancy so I'm trying to schedule lots of things for DS to do in case I can't keep him busy.

He'll take swimming lessons and will be on the swim team.

He'll continue taking tennis lessons.

He's going to a handwriting camp because he has some fine motor problems.

VBS

He'll probably take a trip with his grandparents.

Ds 4 and ds 6 will not be in organized activities over the summer. We are going to Disney for a week when school is out, then a week after we are home my niece and nephew are coming to stay with us for a week so that makes for a busy June. July we will just chill out or the 3 of us will go do some things that are fun. Ds 4 will start preschool this next fall.

My little girl just turned 4 and I am going to put her in swimming classes. I tried teaching her last year, with no luck. It will make lazing by the pool a little less tense for me, when I know she can swim. I won't have to absolutely jump up everytime I hear a splash, actually I think it will make the whole pool-thing less scary year round.

My DD 4 will be in swimming lessons in May/June, Gymnastics until June and then all she will have for July/August is Hockey.

I may re-sign her up for Gymnastics or Swimming for June/July. We are going to see how we feel at the time. I am leaning towards swimming. Or I may get her back into her violin lessons in June/July, she's been taking a break since Febuary.

bengalbelle, I wonder if Louisiana, Mississippi, and the other states Rita and Katrina effected will see a baby boom this year? My DS and DIL lived in Holly Beach, Louisiana before it was washed away and they are expecting in December. Before the hurricane I really wasn't sure they would ever have people babies because they love their puppy babies so much. Rita made them think decide they were ready. I'm not really sure where they will put everything in a little bitty travel trailer but that is one of the great things about being young, you don't worry about hings like that. The baby is due the day before my birthday, maybe it will wait one more day. :cool1:

I wish I could find soccer or tball that runs through the summer, but all the leagues I've seen around here take summers off.

My boys will be in summer camp at Romp n Roll (kind of like Gymboree, but it's art, music, and gym) 3 days a week from 9-12 for, I think 6 weeks (can't remember how many weeks I signed them up for).

Other than that, it will just be hanging around the house, going to the park, going to the grandparents, etc

I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but I know lots of pregnant women right now. My section is actually scheduled for August 29th! I hope things are a lot calmer here that day than they were last year!

Frankly July and August are impossible months to spend to much time outside here in southern texas. Its 100+ most days. I am keeping him in preschool 3 mornings a week for 2.5 hours (yes our preschool runs year round) and he is taking swim lessons. We spend a lot more time outdoors during the winter and find fun indoor activities during the summer. We will spend a lot of time at the pool when we can bare the heat! We live in a tiny little town with not much to do. The rest of the time we will occupy ourselves with play dates and the occasional trip into the city. We are also spending the month of june with my parents so we wil be able to hit the zoo, frankenmuth, henry ford museum, imax and actually be able to play outside!!!
In the fall he will do soccer. We try and keep it with one activity at a time.

My DD is doing "Mom's Morning Out" at gymnastics 2 mornings each week, a few art classes, and she's trying to talk me into soccer but I'm not sure about it yet. :)
