Those w/long stays, what are the plans?

Since joining DVC we've stayed 10 nights in mid Sept., 7 nights in Dec., 13 nights early in Sept. (annual passes for three trips!), and 7 nights in Feb. We usually fly and don't leave Disney property. We have another trip planned this year Oct 25-Nov 7 for MNSSHP and Food and Wine Festival (both for the first time!). I can't wait!

We usually stay 12 nights in the OKW GV. We bring one couple and their kids for the frst week and switch guests for the second week. This usually breks things up. We are in the parks every day. We rarely stray from property.

We've been spending a minimum of14 days and as many as 17, in Florida in January for the last 8-10 years or so (we've been going longer but after the first few trips 7 days just wasn't enough!) We spend some time in other parts of the state visiting friends/relatives, and then we spend about 10 days in Orlando, but maybe 3 or 4 days in Disney parks.

We visit Sea World and Universal, as well as some of the attractions on I-drive. There is a Titanic museum near the Mercado which is absolutely fabulous! When you purchase your ticket it has the name of a real Titanic passenger on it, and they try to recreate what it was like (well most of it anyway!)

Every other trip we do Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach for the day.

We used to take a day and visit VWL, but since we STAYED there this year, we didn't have to do that, so we took a day and visited AKL instead!

We have to set aside an afternoon for shopping at DTD, and people think we are nuts, but we've even gone and seen movies at the West Side. They have the most comfortable theatre I've ever been in, where the arms of the chair move up so if you are sitting next to someone you like, you can move in closer! (they don't have those at the theatres near where I live.)

I wanted to drive over to Gaylord Palms and check out their hotel and get a drink this past trip, but we ran out of time. Oh well, I'll put it on the list for next time.

Believe me though, you won't run out of things to do!:)

The longest trip that we've ever taken is 8 days & the joke around our house is that whenever I book a trip, youngest DS asks: Are we going for 8 days? Why can't we go for 8 days.... Our jobs don't allow lengthy vacation so we'll probably be retired before we take a really long trip i.e. we want to live at DVC when we retire. This last trip, we spent 5 days at WDW & then moved to VB for 2 days (because oldest DS had to meet his HS BB team in Melbourne) The 2 days in VB were very relaxing. It probably helped that I only having one child's wishes to meet. But I saw a relaxing aspect to this trip that we don't have w/ our typical 6 day WDW trip.

Thank you Pam for the link to Bay Hill! I printed out directions from their web site. Wish our club had a reciprical agreement with them!

Anniet, we usually go to a movie too. One of DH's favorite things to do. Next trip May-June, Nemo will be playing and possibly X-Men2. They have a digital theatre at AMC, very cool. I like the Titanic idea, will have to look into that. It's indoor, right? Looking for air conditioned activities this trip. Diana

Wy wife and I will spend our first trip "home" to BCV (and OKW) the last two weeks of June. Other than a reservation for La Nouba, we haven't made any plans whatsoever, not even made a priority seating reservation. We might make a day-trip to Vero, we might visit Celebration. We have annual pass vouchers we bought back in October, and we're returning to WDW from Xmas to New Years. So we are planning spontaneityfor this trip. (I think that's an oxymoron, isn't it?) It will be so neat to just walk over to Epcot for "Illuminations", or go to a park early, and then leave when the crowds arrive, or sleep in instead or rushing to beat the crowds. I must admit though - it is TOUGH not to be making plans.

My wife and I usually go for 10-14 days to Orlando. We stay at BCV. We will go to all the Disney Parks and usually hit Universal. We tend to spend a lot of time at the pool and relaxing. That is what a vacation is for.

I usually take an extended trip in the winter months. (25 days last year, 32 planned for next.)

In the beginning, I really hit the parks. After maybe 9 days, I took a day off and did nothing. :) Just relaxed and rested. ( I needed it!) Then I returned to the parks, but only visiting my favorite attractions or restaurants. I spent a lot of time at the pool, just relaxing.

I did go to the Disney outlets with a friend/fellow DISer, which was fun. ;) :D

A really long trip is very restful. With no rush to see or do anything, it feels like a real vacation. Ahhh. Wish I were there now.

Since I've always been used to doin' the 'ol park to park hustle and never have stayed for more than 3 or 4 days....I'm wonderin' what do you normally plan when going for longer periods of time like 7 to 14 days? Do you visit things outside of WDW or just spend the time with activities within Disney.

Curious to know what everyone does out there.

We will be there 7 full days. The day we arrive, we should be checked into the resort by 2:30. We plan on a character dinner-at a resort-though DH and I have APs, our 3 yr old will have a 5 day PHP, and we don't want to "spend" a day on that yet. The other 7 days: 5 days of park hopping, 1 day at Seaworld(first time) and 1 day at TL or BB.
