I was just going through my diary today for the last few days before we go and this is what I have booked in...

I usually work mon-fri 8-4 but am working on my rest day on Good Friday for time off rather than money so I can sqeeze in those extra few hours off..

Tues am - take DS (who's home from Uni) to dentist
Tues midday - take DS out for lovely lunch somewhere for a bit of "us" time
Tues pm - waxing (me time!)

Wed pm - hair done
I then like to buy new shampoo, styling stuff etc!!! (have also booked DH in for Clarins massage to help get him in the relaxed holiday mood as he works far too hard!)
Wed eve - we all go for a pre-holiday meal (whoever is going on holiday we always do this)

Thurs am - nails done (my holiday ritual as i play netball the rest of the year and have to keep them really short)
Thurs pm - leave for Gatwick hilton

In between there'll be the last minute shopping, packing, cleaning and so on.

So i reckon that before I even get to the duty free I'll have spent around £200 on last minute "essential" bits.. then there are the obligatory books, make up etc at the airport :scared1::scared1:

Am I the only mad one who does this and sees getting my hair/nails done as my "i work hard so i'm gonna treat myself" treat - and makes getting ready for going away nearly as expensive as going away!:rotfl:

Your definately not the only one Katie.

I always get my hair coloured & cut, and my nails done. We have a tradition of a take away on our last night - usually because we are so tired from all the running around packing, cleaning & shopping for the last minute things.

I get into holiday mode (as we call it in our house) about a week before we go away. For me this means the diet disappears and drinks flows even more than usual.

Hey it must be holiday mode time as we only hav 6 days til we go home to Spain. Iwonder why I am a bit tipsey!!!

I do exactly the same, with a wax thrown in just for the pain of it :rotfl2:

Oh yes, I always have my hair dyed and cut before a holiday and that can easily top £70 all by itself!!

Yes I save getting my hair cut and coloured till I go on holidays - DH always moans that I do something different everytime and it takes him days to get used to it!

No your not alone.
I always get my nails done, also my hair which costs a small fortune :lmao:
New hair/body products to take with me,Book...etc.
Its become a tradition now, also take away the night before I never cook as the house is pristine (I do the complete holiday clean up of the house before) so no cooking :rotfl:

I get my hair done, legs waxed, eyebrows waxed, eye lashes tinted etc, we stay at the airport the night before and have a meal out, it soon adds up!!

Me too! Hair cut colour wax and nails done before we go away :)

Im a hairdresser though so works out alot cheaper for me ;)

Gosh I feel like such a scruff compared to all of you, it's all I can do to get my hair trimmed semi-regularly! :rotfl2: I so agree with the airport extras adding up though.. Taxis (luckily last 2 times my dad has taken us both ways which was very much appreciated!), hotel, food etc..

The only thing I do is try and plan to get my hair done as close to the holiday as I can! Oh and chinese take away has become a recent must do to save on the tidying up after!

Claire ;)

I'm with you there, spending as much on getting ready as the holiday it's self.
ha ha ha :lmao:

At my last hair appointment I counted that I only have 4 more hair cuts before I go away.

I dont bother with a manicure but I do get a pedicure and depending on how brave I'm feeling a wax :lmao:
