Those flying out from California (or the west)

Just wondering...what airline are you using (or have used) to go to Orlando?
I was also thinking of flying out of LAX, as opposed to Ontario or John Wayne, because it looks like they would be cheaper (although, the other two are so much closer). However, right now I haven't been able to find many good deals. What do you all think? Thanks in advance.

We live closer to John Wayne also but chose LAX because the prices were cheaper and had non stop flights. We chose Delta, it was Song originally but now we got moved to a Delta flight. It was $267 roundtrip for each of us, which is not bad. Southwest had a special recently and I checked and it would have been $280 roundtrip each (the cheapest they offered) and there were 3 stops. So I feel happy with our deal with Delta.

Good luck. Keep shopping around.

We flew from CA to MCO in 10/03, 11/04 and 10/05. Our fares were about $300 from Santa Maria on UA, about $220 from SFO on UA and $117 from LAX on AA. The last we booked in Aug, the first 2 in June. We just kept checking and jumped on the fares when they came down. We were spoiled by our 10/05 fares and we may never see anything that low again. Good luck -- Suzanne

I could use this info too if anyone has any other suggestions. Also I think I would want a nonstop flight. Which airline is easiest for boarding procedures? I am clueless since I haven't flown before.

My airport of choice is Ontario because prices and schedules are much better than John Wayne. However, when I go to Orlando, I only fly out of LAX. The schedule for MCO there is obviously much better than the others.
In the past 3 years, I've flown on Southwest 6 times (I tend to rake up a bunch of rapid reward tickets), Song once, and United once.
Both Song and United were red eye flights on the way out to give me a full day there.

I'm in Reno so direct flights are non-existent. Last Dec we flew SW at about $290 including all taxes RT to Tampa and out of Orlando back home. We had 1 stop in Vegas on the way to Tampa and on the way home stopped in Albequerque and Vegas.

This year we are going in Dec again and I booked Delta at $310 RT to Orlando. Since this is the Holiday season, these rates seemed really good. We stop in Atlanta and change planes. I was to impatient to wait til Aug/Sept for SW fares and my DH was happier going with Delta since we get assigned seats and he doesn't have to stress on trying to keep everyone together when boarding on SW.

Thank you all, very much, for your help and insight! :goodvibes We ended up finding a pretty good deal on Delta. We're going to go ahead and fly out of LAX. I think it ended up to be like, 276 per person (incl. taxes), so I think we did pretty good. :thumbsup2

Wow, that seems pretty good! What time of year are you going? I'm just curious, I think I am sitting pretty with my Dec rates, but always checking, not sure why can't do anything about it now ;)
