Those are NOT 3d Glasses!

To cut down on the number of pilfered glasses they always announce (or it is posted) that the glasses don't work outside the theater, regardless of whether the glasses are called safety glasses, opera glasses, etc.

maybe you can tell me this since you know the technical side, do you know if it's possible to see the effects accurately if you only have vision in one eye( i can see shape and light with one but ok with the other)? i've been told you can't but i can see the stuff pop out in the disney movies but can't figure out the "3d pictures" that floated around 5 yrs or so ago. wondering if i am really seeing the full effect or not
thanks

Even with vision in only one eye you must still wear the glasses at the 3D movies. I am guessing that with one weak eye you will see as much 3D with the glasses during the movie as you would see without the glasses out in the open.

Polarized sunglasses may or may not reveal the 3D effect (more likely not) depending on the type of polarized material used. One pair might work differently from another pair from the same maker since there is a lens attribute called orientation that may vary during manufacture, is significant for 3D movies, but is irrelevant for sunglasses.

Fred,

In theory, if you would take a video of the "3-D" presentations, and use the same glasses provided at the attraction, WHY would the image NOT be in "3-D" when played back on TV... always wondered about that and thanks for the post!
