Taken from the Mirror....

Thomson Airways has axed its Dreamliner flights schedule until at least July.

The airline should have taken delivery of the revolutionary Boeing 787 jets last month for a May 1 holiday programme to Orlando and Cancun.

But the ongoing battery problem which has seen Dreamliners grounded worldwide means Thomson has activated its contingency plans and switched customers booked on the 787 in May and June to alternative 767 long haul planes.

We will be refunding or crediting customers’ bookings with the supplement they have paid to travel on the Dreamliner, so the £10 supplement paid for the 787 flights will be refunded.

For those travelling in Premium, as the legroom is not the same on the 767 as it is on the 787 Dreamliner, an additional £80 will be given as a gesture of goodwill from ourselves to recognise the disappointment of not experiencing the Premium Club within the 787 aircraft.

Thomson said today: "Our dedicated customer service team is in the process of contacting all customers impacted to inform them that they will now be travelling on Thomson Airways (Boeing) 767 long-haul aircraft, which have premium cabins.

"The supplement paid for the 787 Dreamliner flight will be refunded to those customers who proceed with their original holiday bookings, and customers will also have the option to amend their holiday without incurring any amendment fees."

The airline added: “We understand how frustrating and disappointing this news will be for those customers looking forward to flying on the 787 Dreamliner, we are equally as disappointed that Boeing was not able to confirm a delivery date for us but unfortunately these circumstances are out of our control.”
