Thkgvg arrival--do airport rental car companies run out?

My husband and I are arriving in Tampa late Wednesday night, staying at the airport hotel, and picking up a car the next morning. I reserved a compact car a few months ago from Dollar at a very good rate. I know they often run out of compact cars, but I'm concerned about whether they could run out of all 'reasonable" substitutions. We wouldn't, for example, want to drive a van, and our credit card insurance probably wouldn't cover a fancy sports car. Is Dollar running out of sedans a valid concern?

Yes they can run out. I have experienced on more that one occasion at TPA and other airports running out of mid size cars. Dollar is also a sister company to Thrifty so if there are no cars in the Dollar area they can get you a car from Thrifty.

Yes they can run out . . .

1) Boy, do they!
2) If going without a ressie, I hope you have comfortable walking shoes.
3) Get your ressie in now and hope the car is there.
. . . in most cases, the ressie will hold
. . . but, if people keep their cars an extra day, you still could be out of luck
