I want to take the kids to Universal next year (they will be 7 & 9) and have never been. Is the Portofino hotel good for kids? I'm not sure if DH can come but we'll probably meet my mom there (she'll be ...um....68...that can't be right, that makes me....oh forget it )

We definitely need to head over to IoA and see the new Harry Potter adventure! I couldn't wait and took a sneak peak on Youtube of Forbidden Journey (mostly the queing area since the ride was hard to see because it is so dark). I am SO excited and hope we get to go!!

I love your touring plan - beer before breakfast (well not real beer but still ). Portafino was one of our favorites to stay at but we decided to just take a cab or shuttle over to IoA for the day. and what's with people and arguing in front of others?!! At least you didn't let it ruin your day (and the baby thing - ick!!)

The butterbeer sounds very interesting. So...not real beer? More like a cream soda? And frozen? YUM! I am loving the frozen drinks lately. I discovered the American Dream (which a snack credit can be used for) in Epcot. It was quite yummy...but a bit on the sweet side.

As for the incorrect use of the water area?!? Good grief... what was that guy thinking. I swear... so having four kids I am definitely in the "breeders" camp. People like this make those of us who do have kids (or more than a few) look bad. Yucky! I can't even imagine. I think i would have gone to a park worker to tell of the incident.

Butterbeer is not alcoholic, it's a very sweet slightly carbonated drink. The frozen version was my favorite!

That guy was gross! I know lots of parents, none that would think this was a good idea! Maybe we should have reported it, but we couldn't even believe that was what we were seeing!

Haha, I had just yelled at him for 'helping' me take the picture- he kept moving stuff. That's why he is pouting. I hadn't eaten yet and was still grumpy!

I don't know if pool hopping was allowed or not... there definitely wasn't anyone checking room keys or anything.

There were a number of kids at Portofino. The pool area especially- it was sand and zero entry and had a water slide. They had a fun shallow kids pool, too.
I think they also had character meals. I saw Scooby Doo walking out of our building one day.

You need to see Harry Potter! It is great!!
Here's a confession: most of the bank breaking on this trip was due to alcohol purchases. Drinks are expensive on vacation!

That's the shirt! It gets a lot of attention. As does the shirt I was wearing on Day 3...

The sisters were actually kinda funny. They were so over the top and dramatic about whatever problem they were having. And their mom kept calling to yell at them. It was weird.

Day 2: Bonus Material

I accidentally put these pictures with 'Day 3', but they were taken Day 2! I spent quite a while taking them, and I want to share! After we ate at Mama Della's, I grabbed my SLR and we took some pictures around the resort.

I wanted a picture of the elevator because they were all very nice at this resort. You might not think elevators could be worth noticing, but they sure are at Portofino Bay. Unfortunately, this is more of a weird Ben picture than an elevator picture.

Whew, glad I got that out of my system.

Thank you! The lobby elevators were the best. But even the West Wing elevators were very pretty.

I will post day 3 tonight, then I can tell you what my shirt was!

The Hard Rock was the hotel we didn't see much of. There were a lot of kids at the Royal Pacific. The Portofino didn't have many people, period- it was very quiet. But there were plenty of kids by the pool and it still managed to be peaceful, go figure
