Just looking on the rental board out of curiosity for the going rates. While I'm still seeing the $10pp - and you'd think with the dues increases that would be going up now - I'm seeing many people with NON-Distressed points offerring their points for $9.50 or less! I don't get it! Dues are up, the cost pp is up, a new dining plan is available - and these aren't points that are expiring.... why bring the already amazingly cheap rental price on these boards down more???? Anyone want to speculate?

they don't understand the value of their points. They might need the money badly NOW. You undercut everyone else and you can rent your sooner.

My only thought is that start of the new year/holidays over, and maybe some people are having a tough time financially.

But I agree with you - and on 300 points, $0.50 is only $15 to the renter. (if my math is correct!!)

It's $150. There are a lot of add on points at SSR - perhaps some bought more for the incentive than the need. I predict that this trend will result in more prospective renters selling prime reservations rather than points in order to maximize value. This will put even more pressure on the 7 month window. Keep in mind if you own multiple resorts and you need to rent points, you'll rent the SSR points first almost every time.

Oh - it's certainly better than loosing points- that's why I metnioned they weren't (or didn't look distressed). I don't advocate price fixing, either, and everyone can rent for whatever they'd like (I know I will). It just didn't look like these point were in any danger of being lost or anything...... just hoping this wasn't a trend on the Rent trade board. With prices for the owners going up - I don't think the rental price should go down........

I guess what I meant (and didn't say well) was that for 300 points, one can book a very long stay in a studio, or a nice two bedroom stay.

So what's $150 more added to what is already a very very reasonable price at $10/per point?

I agree with Spicey -- people who don't know they can rent for $13-15 rent for $9.

I think it is credit card bills from the Holidays and people who want their money quickly.

FWIW, I'm more concerned about the increasing number of people who are looking to rent at the 11 month window. Don't like the competition that otherwise wouldn't be there, LOL.

I total agree. I think The best kept secret campaign drew in people who really shouldn't be buying(can't really afford) got drawn in by the excitement and bought and now have to make the monthly payment + dues and are either selling points to do that or stripping the contract and then selling it. I notices a few weeks ago that there seemed to be alot of contracts for SSR with no points til 2007. TJMHO
