This is your birthday song, it isn't very long...... June trip report!!

We have another thing in common besides a shared birthday-my DH is a drummer too! (and I kinda wish I married the singer because it's a pain to load up all those drums at the end of the night ;) )

Great moring at MK! Can't wait to see where the reast of the day leads you!

Very true.... drummers and their wives have the hardest job setting up, tearing down and loading up equipment! I used to be much more help than I am now :rolleyes1

Love the castle shot! :thumbsup2 Sounds like you had a very productive day at MK.

Okay I have never tried an Entenmann's donut but feel like I have to now! :lmao: Where did you buy them from?

Mmm that dole whip looks great as well! :cloud9:

How funny! They really are good donuts! You can get them at any hotel giftshop, I think (at least the ones we've stayed at!) I know for a sure they have them at the general store on the boardwalk.

Hi!!! So happy to have found your report!! We were there at exactly the same time! Happy belated birthday!! You and your DH are ADORABLE!!!! What a cute couple!! Oh and congrats on the NBA Championship!! We're THRILLED you guys won!!! :cool1::thumbsup2

We love Tangierine Cafe too! Such great flavors and big enough portions to share. We share a lot of CS meals as well. Omg we also tried Boma for breakfast this trip and WOW those goat cheese and chive eggs are AMAZING!! AND that chocolate coconut croissant WAS SOO GOOD!! It's so funny you took a pic of just that, because I loved that thing and I don't think I got a pic of it! We also love Columbia Harbour House. They have great food. The fish and chips is awesome.

Can't wait to read more!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Wow! I am so glad you have joined us! It's funny how similar we are ;) I am going to read your TR too! Wasn't the weather great? Except for the blazing hot hours between 3-5! I thought the mornings and evenings were perfect!

The dole whip was the perfect way to cool off! It was even better when it melted into a smoothie and was drinkable though a straw! YUM! :cloud9:

As we were walking around we noticed this new restaurant... at least we think it is pretty new! We have never seen it before on any of our previous trips.
disney168.jpg

We never got a chance to try it, but from what we could tell it was another quick service restaurant. Does anyone have any reviews on this place?

We decided to take a break after walking around a bit longer because we really wanted to explore AKL. We had dinner reservations at Ohana and needed to get back to get cleaned up. We left MK a little earlier than we had to so we could see what was going on back at the lodge.

Here is the view from our balcony. The giraffe's were fed right by our room around 4:30 each day.

Cute story about the next picture.
disney182.jpg

Notice the anokole cattle and the white bird in the left-hand corner? This was the sweetest thing! The little white bird (Ibis??) would follow him around all over the place. I am sure he was eating off of him or something, but it was so sweet! The ankole cattle would walk a little, the white bird would walk right next to him. He would stop, and the white bird would stop right beside him. We watched them do this for about 15 minutes! It was super cute! It looked like they were best friends

Before heading out for dinner we walked out to view the savannah from outside the lobby area.

We loved staying at AKL! It was always so nice to come back and watch the animals!
We hopped on a MK bus and then onto the monoral to make a 7:00 ressie at Ohana. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Poly! I hope that one day we can actually stay there. It's so expensive, though!
We were a little early for our ressie, so we went to the gift shop to kill some time.
disney197.jpg

They told us it would be 30 minutes, but our buzzer went off within 10 minutes! :cool1:
MMM.... pineapple bread!
disney198.jpg

Wings - DH loved these!
disney201.jpg

Potstickers - I could eat the whole bowl of these!
disney202.jpg

Noodles and Veggies
disney204.jpg

The pics of the meat and shrimp did not turn out very well. But, it was all delicious! Especially this.....
disney205.jpg

We asked for the sauce to be left on the side so we could make each bite as sweet as we wanted :lmao:

Overall, we had a great experience at Ohana. We like to do this restaurant once every trip. The food is always good and the Hawaiian vibe makes it fun! We were kind of bummed because we were seated away from the stage area where all of the action takes place, so we felt a little left out. But, it was still great!

We headed back to MK to finish some attractions and watch Wishes. We first went on the People Mover. DH did not want to do anything that might of made him sick after eating that huge dinner!

Have any of you noticed they have redone the narration of this ride? It is much more informative now, but we miss the old guy! DH loves to randomly say "Now approaching...." when we are going places to bring back some Disney magic when we are at home. Now, they no longer say it on the People Mover :sad2: Kind of sad for us!

We did the Laugh Floor again and this time it was HILARIOUS! The night crowd was huge and were sitting next to the guy who was asked to get up and dance, and man.... he was READY to GET DOWN!!! They kept coming back to him during the show because it was so funny! I think the person he was with was kind of embarassed! It was great! :lmao:

We ended the night with Wishes. Sorry, no pics of the fireworks - they never turn out well. But, they have this new laser show before the fireworks and it turns the castle into all of these different colors with cool designs. I thought it was AMAZING! It is a great pre-show for the fireworks!

MK was open until midnight this night, so after the fireworks we decided to ride a few more rides. Another one of DH's favorites is the Jungle Cruise. This is another ride that is totally dependent on how good the guide is. And this time, she was GREAT!!! We had never done this ride at night and we loved it! This ride can be really funny if you have the right guide!

disney215-1.jpg

She is actually how I came up with the title of my TR. She saw my b-day pin during the ride and made an announcement. Then she asked if she could sing me happy birthday. I said yes, of course, and she said "This is your birthday song, it isn't very long." And went right back to narrating the ride! We thought it was pretty funny!

We had a wonderful day at MK and a great dinner at Ohana. Ahhh... the memories!

I'm shocked a Southern girl doesn't know about this! :rotfl2: The bird walks with the larger animal hoping his heavy hoof and size stir up insects so he can grab them when they move! CHOMP!!

As for the Diamond Horseshoe, a lot of people miss it because they use it often for events. They were doing a refurb on it when we were at WDW last year so we didn't go in. They used to perform a show in there at various times. Don't know if they still do.

Loving your TR. Keep it going. ;)

Ah Ha! Now it all makes sense! I knew he had to be using him for something!

At this point in the trip, we were thinking, "Wow! Could our vacation get any better?" And the answer was "YES!". It just kept getting better and better!

Sadly, we had to start our 4th day of vacation. I am sure you are wondering why I wrote "sadly".... well, DH starts getting depressed on vacation when we reach the half-way point. He starts the day with "Man, we already only have ___ number of days left!" It drives me CRAZY!!:headache:
I completely understand where he is coming from, but at the same time, we still had a solid 4 days left! I guess I can appreciate the fact that he just never wants to the good times to come to an end!

Schedule for day 4
AM and early afternoon - Epcot
Afternoon - Pool
Evening- DTD - reservation at HOB

We woke up and tried to make it to rope drop at Epcot, but the buses we WAY off, so we ended up missing it. Oh well! We wanted to use this day to ride the stuff that we didn't get a chance to on the first day.
We started with TT.
disney216.jpg

This ride is always pretty fun! We usually get a fast pass for it, but since the line was only 10-15 minutes, we waited.
Then we debated on doing MS. The first year they introduced this ride we LOVED it! We were talking about how cool it was for days! Then, we did it the next year and I still thought it was amazing, but DH got a horrible headache and it kind of ruined the rest of the day for him. After they changed it up to the orange and green versions, he still did not have any interest in riding it. But, this trip he said that he wanted to do it again. I asked him which version (thinking he would say green) and he said actually said orange! I was pretty excited and worried at the same time because I knew what happened last time. Once we actually got to the ride, he changed his mind, so we had to do the green line :guilty:
I was a little bummed, but better to have one less thrill ride than a sick hubby the rest of the day, right?
disney219.jpg

The green line is ok, but it definitely DOES NOT give you the same sensation of taking off as the orange! We met some first timers on the bus going back from Epcot and we asked them how they liked it so far. The dad said that MS was one of the first rides they did (orange line) and it ruined the rest of the day for him. He said he couldn't even eat lunch! I guess this is pretty common, which is why they have the green line now!
At 11:00 we headed to World Showcase to get a snack and were SOOOOO disappointed in the school bread at Norway! We have had this before and loved it! But, we are pretty sure we got the night before's leftovers because it was stale and terrible! It tasted like bread you feed to the ducks.... seriously! I wanted to take it back, but DH did not want to make a big deal about it.
disney222.jpg

It looks so much better than it actually was!

Tomorrow.... HOB review!

Sounds like a fun day at Epcot! Think I will be sticking to the green line of MS!

I'm sorry to read that you got a stale school bread.

Yuck sorry about your stale schoolbread! We haven't done 'Ohana since like '07! We should give it another shot. The food was just ok and the service was not good. We like the offerings, so maybe we'll get lucky if we try again! This past trip was our first visit to AKL! Crazy I know! We loved the animals! That's so cool that giraffes are right outside your window!
