This is why I mistrust TAs

Today I went on one of the "other" WDW message boards. I clicked on the link of their TA sponsor to get the rate for a YC water view room. I had just checked mousesavers and knew that rack rate was $395 for the dates I wanted. When the quote came up it had "$545" lined through in red, with "their" rate of $395, implying that they were getting me a $150 per night discount. Don't you think that is misleading?

I know there are great TAs out there, but this type of thing really hurts their reputations.

I know there are a lot of good ones out there. However, the couple of people I've know to have gotten "burned" have made me leary.

I know a couple that booked their vacations and paid for them in full. Before the TA's paid the vendors, they went out of business. My friends were without nothing. They had to pay for their entire vacations again.

WOW that is horrible.

MissyPie - that is why travel agents get a bad name. I wish agencies wouldn't do that. It makes it harder for the honest agencies to be believed.

I use a fantastic agency and agent. I've never once even given a second thought to the integrity of these people. I use Our Laughing Place Travel and Josephine is my agent. Everything has been on the up and up and I've never had a problem. If you want to use a TA, Missypie, I highly recommend OLP. Good luck!

We are in this business because we LOVE this business, not because we are getting rich. Do your homework before choosing
an agent. Get referrals from friends and co-workers. I get new
clients all the time from referrels. Talk to a real live person, get
to know them, not a computer. Most of us that are left are very
good and dedicated to our clients. In my office, I specialize in
Disney, Cruises, and all-inclusives, that's all I do. I book 90%
of my trips through Walt Disney Travel Company, I also help my
clients with their priority seating, parade times, good viewing
locations, etc....
Good luck to you,

Travelgoddes (Mary in Michigan)
