Planomom,

Transportation from the YC and BC is really quite good. Walk to Epcot and MGM (or boat), bus to MK very reliable, one suggestion take your car to the water parks-Seem to run less frequently - we always take the car to BB. Have a great vacation.

Hi! Thanks for all the great info! It will take me forever to get through it all (my twins really cut down on my surfing time -LOL)!
We just got back from a glorious week at WL. We stayed at the Poly before our kids were born. Our plan this time is to go the 2nd week of Dec. in 2003. We figured that it won't be too busy and we can be there for Xmas activities (our kids will be a month away from turning 5, and since we live in a very strict school district, this will probably be our last chance for many years to go at an off-time). We're leaning toward BC, but I have some questions. Will it be warm enough for Stormalong Bay, and if so, does it close early at that time of year? My DH and twins LOVED swimming at WL this trip, and DH even went to swin by himself at 11:00 pm one night (pool was open 'til 12) and LOVED it! If Stormalong won't be a big part of this trip, would we be better off saving the BC for warmer weather? How does BC rate against the other resorts for Xmas spirit, decor., activities, etc. ? I'm also a little worried about the buses. We loved that at WL, even thoght we were sharing with Poly and GF, we were the 1st picked up and dropped off. Is BC last on it's route, and are you stuck with a lot of "standing room only"? Should we stay at an Epcot resort when MK is typically one of our favorite parks? Lastly, (and I'm sorry this is so long - but, I'm still on that "just got back from WDW high") we may do a day or 2 at Universal this trip - should we stay at a Universal Hotel during our time there? I know they have the front-of-the-line deal, but I'm guessing it won't be too busy this time of year. We will have our minivan with us. Thank you so much, and sorry again for the barrage!

Gretchen

Guyzmom, I haven't been to this forum in quite awhile, but I think I can answer some of your questions. I stayed at the BC in December of 2000. It was beautifully decorated, with a gingerbread carousel in the lobby and a gorgeous tree. Stormalong Bay did close fairly early that time of the year, but we did swim several times in the afternoons. We are from Minnesota and it was in the mid 70's when were there, so we loved it. We also swam a few late evenings in the quiet pool, which was wonderful. We never had a problem with the bus service. We had to stand once, I think on the way to MVMCP. I would definitely stay at an Epcot resort. You may be surprised how much you like the other parks during the holidays. You will be close by the Osborne lights at MGM, which we ended up seeing 3 times. And Epcot is absolutely beautiful during the holidays, and those 2 parks are often open later than MK in December. I hope that answers some of your questions!!! Typing this made me really want to go back!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe Dec. 2003 would be good for me too.

Glad to see this thread back up and running smoothly ... been trying for close to 2 wks to post a message. Thanks to Webmaster Pete for responding to my inquiries.

I have managed to finalize our trip and just need to start packing (YIKES) ... 6 days and counting!!

I must say that part of the rationale for spending the extra $$ for YC/BC) is the fact that we are planning to use SOB because the weather is expected to be at least in the 80's. I have read that many guests have not even used the pool in December and that's a shame.

However, there is so many good things about YC/BC that I've read (location/proximity to BW, Epcot, MGM; resort atmosphere) that if you don't mind not using the water facilities, then go for it.

NEVER RECEIVED RESPONSE FROM PREVIOUS POST CONCERNING BC REHAB, UPGRADE AT CHECK-IN, AND REQUEST FOR CLEAN LINES/COMFORTER

I think you'd only get an upgrade if the room category your booked for happens to be full when you arrive ... maybe chances are greater if you check in later in the day. I'm arriving early in the morning and planning to check in or store baggage, so don't think I'd have a chance at an upgrade.

I don't know what Disney policy is on changing linen, but I think any Deluxe hotel would do it daily, and extra blankets shouldn't be a big deal to fulfill. This is something you'd have to request with the hotel directly to make them aware of your wishes.

We were at the BC in October and I just looked at the newspaper that YC/BC gives each guest. They change the linens every 3 days unless you specifically request it more frequently. Part of the reasoning is for conservation of water, which Disney is very focused on.

Tresey,
FYI - Posting in all capital letters is considered "shouting" in the internet world and is pretty much a no-no. You'd be better off to type in all small letters if using the combination of capitals and small letters is difficult.

Best wished and have a great vacation.

"Does anyone know if the BCV can use the pool at the BC/YC?"

Absolutely. There will also be an additional quiet pool.

It looks like the Beach Club Villas will be opening in July.

It will be interesting to hear about the store expansion and impact on the lobby area of the hotel section to accomodate the Villa section. I presume hotel guests would be welcome to use the new quiet pool at the villas.

Just in case you hadn't seen these, here are pictures of the Villas:

To the Emily Post of the internet.....obviously my caps lock button was on and that's why my previous post was all capital letters....The post wasn't intended to be rude....You know, I've occasionly read posts that seemed to be a little out of place on the board, but posting a quote about rudeness just wasn't necessary......Oh well, now back to the issues at hand....My trip to the BC is fast approaching and I was wondering how the crowds are at WDW, I was speaking with a woman I know who's a travel agent and the buzz is business is still down at WDW....Has anyone been to the BC lately, was there full occupancy???

I don't know that Eric Hoffer's quote listed in the signature applies to all caps used in both 2/24 and 3/13 posts. You'll notice the same signature is also included in the post providing BC Villa interior pictures.

You have the option to edit your posts if you'd like, however editing out an ongoing signature line (as Mr. Hoffer's quote is) is not readily available.

Perhaps you'll stick around and continue posting beyond the 18 posts you have, DIS is a wonderful place to learn about Disney. Have fun at the Beach Club. We are owners at the Beach Club Villas. We like the resort enough to invest in it for the next 40 years.

p.s. I attemped to communicate privately through e-mail, but your e-mail is unavailable.

If I stay at the YC/BC resorts am I able to go to the pool at the Dolphin/Swan resorts???....I've seen photos and it looks wonderful...SAB looks like fun as well, but the pool across the way at these resorts looks more relaxing.....Also I've read that there are fewer full balconies at the BC than at the YC, can anyone tell me what floors have full balconies standard or waterview?....Thanks!

If I stay at the YC/BC resorts am I able to go to the pool at the Dolphin/Swan resorts???
Not legitimately. The Dolphin and Swan are not owned by Disney, even Disney Vacation Club members cannot pool hop there. And, non-Disney Vacation Club guests do not have pool hopping priviledges.

Hi- I need some clarification. I thought all the rooms at the YC had balconies, but some of the floor plans seem to indicate this may not be the case. Also- which floor is non smoking. I think I read the 3rd floor...but now I can't find where I first saw that!!! LOL! I am so confused!! Anyway we leave in 9 days...can't wait..confused or not:confused: thanks for your help...it's murder getting old!!!

My DH wants to take me (and our 4yo DS) to WDW for Labor Day Weekend . Labor Day is my B-day this year. He wants to stay at the Poly. I want to stay at the BC. I'm starting to lean towards the Poly now, because I have a feeling that SB will be mobbed! With it being a three day weekend and with a whole other resort now coming over to use the pool! Should I leave the BC for another time or should we go for it? I would love to have breakfast at Cape May on Saturday morning and then go in the pool, instead of doing a park. What do you think about this idea? Would this time be really crowded as well? We get up pretty early. I would make my breakfast PS for the first seating. Thanks

Good afternoon everyone!.....I'm going to BC in May, and I've already given my Travel agent my room requests (non-smoking, full balcony, etc.)....My ? is do I still need to fax my requests or will guest services have them on file with my reservation?

Smythe..... I don't think whole floors are smoking or non-smoking designated. I believe there are sections. As far as I can tell, the sections closest to the Swan/Dolphin are the smoking sections. We were on the fifth floor in room 5161 and it was a designated smoking room.

Hope this helps.

We just found out we may be going to WDW Aug 25th to 9/1 and we can get a rate of $224.xx/night at the BC-standard room.

1st ??--Is this a decent rate--they quoted me a rack rate of $327.00/night for this room

2nd ??--From what I have read, it seems that most here seem to favor the YC, but since it wasn't available with an AP discount, I thought the BC would be ok. Will there be any construction going on over there at that time?

There will be me, DH & 5 1/2 yo DS on this trip and we were hoping to stay in that area since we discovered it on our trip last year.

TIA!

Karen
