The Mummy 3 & The Alamo: PageSix reports that Universal is still interested in developing a third "The Mummy" film but without stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. The latest concept seems to have Imhotep waking "in contemporary times, with new stars" according to Arnold Vosloo - "Taking the story to a different time would open up all new possibilities. It could even be set in the 1950s or '60s -- whenever the Mummy wakes up". Meanwhile The Houston Chronicle has a detailled article on the accuracy of events portrayed in the upcoming remake of "The Alamo": "If you look at it from a purely historical viewpoint, there are some things you might quibble with but when you look at the overall picture, it's surprising how much attention to detail they got right" says the real Alamo's curator Bruce Winders. There's a controversy brewing over though over how the fate of Davy Crockett will be handled, and if the famous "line in the sand story" will be included. Thanks to 'JHBlade'.

What makes 'The Mummy' franchise so successful IS Brendan Fraser! People want to see him do battle with Imhotep with his family along side. Continue the story Universal, don't abandon it...PLEASE! :(

Hmmm....

Mummy in contemporary times....maybe in a location like.....oh, I dont know......New York maybe?

And we were all wondering how the attraction would fit into the New York area.

Dumping Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz would be like Terminatior without Arnold Schwarzenegger. It just wont work!

I don't think it is a matter of Universal "dumping" Brendan and Rachel. I'm pretty sure that I've read articles where both of them said they weren't interested in reprising their roles.

i read that too No11moms but then i also read somewhere that both were willing to come back if the script were good enough. also, its not like either of them are hot commodities in hollywood rght now.
