This is a strange question but do your children want to wear costumes to DL?

My girls want to wear princess dresses to the princess meal. Except the oldest wants to be tinkerbell. Is this ever done?

there are children who dress up to go to DL all the time. Just bring extra set of clothes in case they get tired of it.

We were just at the princess lunch at Ariel's Grotto this past Sunday, and our girls actually looked out of place because they DIDN'T have costumes on. Almost all of the little girls there were dressed up as princesses. Just make sure your daughters know that every single princess won't be there. My oldest daughter kept waiting for Belle, and she never came out. It never occurred to us to prepare her for that. She still loved it though - we all had a great time. It was VERY well done. Have fun!

My three daughters wore princess dresses to goofy's kitchen and then to ariels grotto. We didn't let them wear them in the park on rides because they are too uncomfortable and itchy. My daughters wore the red belle dress (age 7), ariels wedding dress (5), and tinkerbell (2). They have the WHOLE costumes including wigs, but we only allowed them to wear the dresses and shoes. It was a great experience for them and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. While Belle was at our table, the Beauty and the Beast song started to play. She asked my three girls to come dance with her.

I agree with aggie though on letting them know that not all princesses will be there. We were waiting for cinderella and she wasn't there. All was good though. It was the best character dining experience we have had. Definitely worth the time and money.

Absolutly let them wear the dresses! For 2 years and over 20+++ trips to DL my DD always was dressed up . She wore costumes from morning till night!!! Once she turned 4 (in June) she has become "too cool" for the dresses. It is kind of sad We did just purchase the Alice dress and she LOVES it!

I have to agree that girls not dressed up are starting to look out of place at times. There seems to be a princess epidemic in this country, he he!!!

I noticed that when my 6 yr old wears her gown, she is greeted as "Princess" by all the castmembers in the park. You get the same response if you wear the paper crown form Ariel's Grotto, too. I learned that the hard way last trip, since my daughter insisted I wear it all day. It was alot of fun. I think the cast members are trained to comment on the outfits. That is just my guess, because I don't remember getting so much attention when not wearing the outfits. I have seen the boys dressed up too!!! Stitch costumes, and pirates, etc. Why not, I say???

Just back from a 12 hour Sunday at DLR and there must have been over a hundred mini-characters running around the parks. About 95% were little girls, but I did see 2 Peter Pan's and a Captain Hook. At one point my 3.5yo DS was jumping in Goofy's Bounce House with 2 Belles, a Snow White and a Cinderella

Definitely...My daughter(5 yrs) has a different costume for each day.
Last time we were there (1.5 yrs ago) she was really treated like a vip (princesses taking her hand and walking through the park with her), people bringing her into the parade..etc..
It really made it that much more magical.

The costume at disneyland are quite pricey, so we have bought ours through disneydirect and off ebay.
IT IS A MUST DO!

Now that she's a little bit bigger, she loves it when the little ones see her dressed up and call her Snow White, etc... I could never get her to change, though. When it's her day to wear her costume she insists on wearing it all day and night!

We were there last week, and saw countless little girls in princess dresses, and boys in Peter Pan costumes. It was cute, but at one point, my 8 year old DD said it was hard to spot the actual characters with all the costumed kids running around. They all sure looked like they were having a ball, though. I've personally never been able to afford those costumes for my girls. It's all I can do to take them to DL every 2 years. This year, however, I did make personalized T shirts for them. I let them each choose a Disney character, and then I made iron on's for them (with the help of some wonderful DIS'ers on the Scrapbooking board). DD8 chose Minnie Mouse, DS6 chose Buzz Lightyear, and my twin DD's3 chose Dumbo. They wore those shirts proudly and every cast member that we saw greeted them by name. We even had a special encounter with Alice and the Mad Hatter who carried on a conversation with all 4 of my kids for about 15 minutes. It was wonderful to see the magic reflected in the eyes of my kids. That's what it's all about. Thanks, Walt!

My son has worn his Prince Phillip and Peter Pan costumes to the park quite a few times, he has even worn it to Disney on Ice! They love the attention that they get from the characters wearing the costumes!
