This is a hard decision!

We are in the process of deciding if this is for us and I have read many posts. We like staying in nicer hotels, we love Disney as a couple, and now we have 2 small children so it is a whole new world (no pun intended!) My question is, we are also beach bums and love HIlton Head. So, would you suggest making that our home? It would give us a little diversity in vacations. It would also save us some $ initially. I have read that it is VERY difficult to book this location and it is one that we would use every couple of years. I know that you can't be my finiancial advisor, but please advise. How about buying smaller contract that would cover a week at Hilton Head, then buying another one for SSR or another Disney resort? I don't know how many points you were looking to buy, but that may be an option for you. Also, I own 160 points at SSR and I called, actually e-mailed, MS with a request for July 31-August 5 at HHI right at the 7-month window, and I got it...no problem! Actually, I had my choice of another week in August when I called MS contemplating changing my vacation. Don't forget, you can call day by day to book it, too. No matter what, you have options.

That's exactly what I did. I knew that, living in NC, HH was about a 5 or 6 hour drive from our house. And I also knew that, even if (horrors!!!) we got tired of WDW, NO ONE in NC ever gets tired of the beach!!! We have many friends who either have or rent beach houses each year, and have done so for many, many years. So I decided to think of HH as "my beach house." Yes, I only get to stay in it for 5 days a year (we go in July and get a 2BR but that's plenty for us!!) I did ultimately also buy the same number of points at BCV later, so I could stay a full week at HH if we wanted to, by combining both sets of points. (It costs me 165 points for a Sunday - Thursday stay, and 165 points for a Friday - Saturday stay. Each of my contracts is for 165 points.) So we can go to HH for 5 days, and use our BCV points later in the year at WDW (LOTS of flexibility with those points, and we've stayed at several different resorts, changed room sizes, and been in different seasons), or we can use them all up at HH.

HH IS cheaper to buy in, although that wasn't my prime reason. I knew I wanted that 11 month booking advantage!!!! HH is a great vacation for my family!!!
