I was looking on ebay recently and was amazed to see VMK items for sale there.
Not only that but the prices that people were paying for them. I can't imagine young kids being able to pay over one hundred dollars for a single VMK item. My young son plays and rarely has that kind of money. So is this really a kids game or are there adults pouring a bunch of money into this as well?:wizard:

well i play vmk and i am a kid and i would think about buying the things on EBAY but i dont have a credit card (or a paypal acount) and i mean i have enough money but i wouldnt want to buy a stitch hat or the mansion room.i would have liked to have earned it or got it as a gift or somthing i mean 200 for a stitch hat is a lot of money in real life some people might buy it but that is what they want to do with there money.

I know many people that play VMK that are not kids, including myself. But I dont think any of them would ever buy things off e-bay. Its funner to play the game the way it was meant to be, and earn the items on your own.

Well we play with a wide range of ages. And if you go in to trade rooms you'll hear alot of ppl say they have or do buy things off Ebay or now even Yahoo auctions.

I guess it depends on your defination of fun. If you just play the game you probably wouldnt buy but if you trade alot its a different story.

All a matter of personal taste.

Can I Play?
Hey, it's a free country, of course you can play. VMK may be designed for 8-14 year olds, but Disney fans of all ages will have a blast. No matter how old you are, you'll discover something fun in the game. Just make sure you respect the VMK way so that everybody has a good time.

VMK is for all who love Disney, no matter what their age. ;)

According to the VMK House Rules on the home page, buying and selling of VMK accounts or items is a violation of the terms of service:
Don't buy or sell accounts or items. We reserve the right to cancel any player account that was bought or sold, or player accounts that have bought or sold items.
Not that this stops some players from doing it anyway, but for the record, this is VMK's official stance on the matter.

Most players, adult as wells as children, are quite content to either earn or trade for items in the game, or acquire them through Disney promotions.

Hmm...I don't remember reading anything anywhere that said vmk was just for kids. Aren't we all kids at heart? Yes, thought so. :D
I don't, nor will I ever, purchase anything from ebay for vmk. Simply, it's not worth "real" money to me. It's not just the fact that Disney says it's a violation of their TOS, it's just that it serves no purpose. I have what I have through gift or trade, I'm happy with it. I'll probably never have a Stitch hat or Sparrow suit, but it's for sure I'll never spend real money for them either.

Yavn has said, though, that
VMK and e-bay have teamed up together
on a newsletter when there was a quest to do for the Year of a Million Dreams stuff.

That was the only thing they said about e-bay, though, and people should understand the card is either printed off the internet or ripped up or already used. Or maybe they were telling the truth?:confused3

Yes, VMK did team up with Ebay for the Dreams promotion. But no purchase was required to play the game and receive those codes.

It was not the same thing as buying VMK codes from sellers on Ebay.

I personally found VMK from the Ebay promotions. As for the kids only, hmm well expain to me the beards and mustaches, and shall we say well developed girl characters? For kids only, I seriously doubt it!

I have a couple of friends on VMK that have purchased items off ebay. One purchased a flip hat. She's a kid and her parents ordered it for her. I think she saved up money for it, but I can't remember for sure. The other is a dad that bought a sparrow costume for his daughter. He told me it cost $100. He got it for her because she got excellent grades on her report card. They don't live close together, so part of their father/daughter time is spent playing VMK together.

Some items on VMK are "status" items in the game. I think that encourages the "black market" on certain VMK items.

By the way, our family has 3 generations that play VMK.
