This GAD thing is confusing me... how would this work for us?

We are going to go in September, and it will be me, DH and two kids, 3 and 6. The older child doesn't turn 6 until the summer. We will be staying onsite and would like the dining plan (free or otherwise) so we'd need to buy tickets ahead of time, at least 1 day.

So first of all we'll have to wait till my older daughter turns 6 in the summer. Then we could volunteer a day, and upgrade the ticket while we're there, right (we will want 4 day tickets)?

But we also will have to buy a 1 day ticket for all 4 of us ahead of time...??

How will this logistically work and will we end up saving any money?

It will not save you any money. If you get one day tickets as part of a dining package you can save them for another trip since they don't expire until 14 days after first use. You would probably be best off just getting the package tickets for the length you need and use the vouchers on separate days for Fastpass Exchange Cards.

If you do get the 1-day ticket for the package and then save that and use the GAD ticket instead, then you could consider that money saved but deferred to a future trip...IF you are going to make a future trip, and don't mind spending the $79+tax for that ticket now.

For some it is difficult to plan in that fashion...and if on that future trip you'd also get the dining plan, and still have to get a 1-day ticket, you just keep this 1-day ticket for some unpredictable future...
