This definitely shouldn't have been its own thread AND I’m a loser who fell out of love with Disney so I’m outta here

The amount of money you save with resale is fixed, it is the delta between what you paid for the resale contract minus what you would have paid if you bought direct. You will never save any more money than that because the ongoing costs are the same. You may in fact end up paying more over time when you consider being ineligible for discounts such as the Sorcerer pass, etc. Everyone has to do the research and make the best decision for their family.

Correct. But if you only go for a week a year or every other year, you were likely never going to be purchasing an annual pass or using any of the "perks" anyway. Except maybe the small discount on merch/food. Does that discount add up to as much as you'd save by resale? I guess that depends on each person.

Please re-read my last sentence. Every path, including not buying at all - are all valid. It depends on each family's individual circumstances.

Went to delete my account and realized there were responses. (Including some real ****** ones! Congrats on being jerks!) It has zero to do with any direct vs resale thing…mostly to do with fact we bought a lake house partly with DVC money. (And buying resale gave us the flexibility to leave basically whole so yeah glad I did).

But honestly the last time we were there my kids just didn’t enjoy it as much and we ended up going to Universal a couple of days, which I’d never been to. (And which my kids preferred). Plus I went overseas for a couple of conferences—hadn’t been for a while—and the real thing was better than Epcot lol.

As I said before, you do you. Imagine taking the time to dig through old messages to play detective and then making dumb assumptions…I mean c’mon, get a freaking life.

Wait, wait, so the person who started a thread with the semi-inflammatory title "I'm Outta Here," which has that under flavor of suggesting that maybe people who stay are making a bad choice, is now upset that people (here isn the Purchasing DVC sub category) disagreed with him???

One sec, I'm heading over to the Loving Taylor Swift forum to post a thread with the title At Best She's Mid and then explain that I'm giving away all of my Taylor albums, with the expectation that that lots of people will agree and wish me the best.

Disagreed about what? No, I was just saying some of the posts were downright mean, that’s all.

Listen, if one dude changing his mind about Disney/DVC value and posting “I’m outta here” upsets anyone’s psychology, I apologize. Maybe I can change the thread title for you so you feel better.

(a) your departure probably doesn't need to be it's own thread and (b) when talking to a fan group, unless you want to troll, maybe something like, Hey, my kids are older, had a great time for a few years, but we're moving on to other things now. Hope to see you around. And then people will comment back something like, Enjoy the new road. Other wise the troll comment above is pretty much on point.

“I’m a 48 year old guy who loves Disney and if other people don’t like it, they can (censored).

You do you.”

If you can’t see the humor in the same person who wrote this post 2.5 years later starting this thread then I don’t know what to tell you. I find it humorous.

No sarcasm intended in the following statement: Enjoy your lake house and overseas vacations and don’t worry about what strangers write on the internet…. life is short and you should definitely spend your free time and discretionary cash flow on whatever way you feel will maximize your happiness.

I personally still prefer Disney. But the HP stuff is pretty amazing! Both are just so much $$$ to get onto all the rides and such now. I do miss old FastPass, Magic Express, etc. Looking forward to visiting a bunch of years down the road when a lot has changed and spending the $$ again seems worth it.

Hmmm maybe I can change the title again

Enjoyed having DVC for a bunch of years but am all nickel and dimed out…just not a good enough value anymore. Got my money back and that’s all she wrote. Later sk8ers.

Ok… you create this thread on this sub-forum of all places and post the above…

Went to delete my account and realized there were responses. (Including some real ****** ones! Congrats on being jerks!)

And you’re confused/upset by the responses to it. 🤔

For the record just to make sure there's no misunderstanding:

A few pages ago when I said that I hope you get a good price on reselling your DVC contract, that was intended with sincerity, not sarcasm.

Hmm really more of a really nice lake shed, and no overseas vacations...only conferences for work (which is still awesome, yes) and thanks! If I win a lottery first thing I'll buy is DVC direct. VGF this time :)
