This can't be right - $500 for 4 nights @ POLY

I preliminarily checked pricing for staying at POLY for 4 nights from 12/22 thru 12/26 and got a quote at the Disney website of $3,113.00. We were going to start our vacation at US but I just wanted to see what the cost would be if we stayed the entire time on Disney property. The quote I received for 8 nights from 12/18 thru 12/26 was $3,667.00. Thats only a $554.00 difference for 4 additional nights.

Am I looking at this wrong.

Not looking at it wrong. I believe the first quote you have is for holiday season so it will be higher. Since the second quote starts before holiday season the room will be at a cheaper rate for the entire stay.

That's right. Holiday season starts 12/20. Seems like a good deal to check in 4 days early! I know US resorts have been kind of pricey this year. Last year had better deals.

Also, did that include tickets? The new MYW tickets get less expensive per day the more days you buy.

If you're pricing a package, it might be easier to compare room only prices.

I would agree with the 2nd poster, who noted the difference between Holiday and Value season being the reason. 12/22 is Holiday Season, the most expensive time to go. But, 12/18 is Value Season, the least expensive. When you check-in on Value Season, you keep the Value Season rate for the length of your stay. You didn't indicate what view you had, or a package, but I did some basic math for you, based on a Standard View room with no passes or package plans, just for kicks:

Garden View for 4 nights during Holiday Season: $2158.64
Garden View for 8 nights during Value Season: $2711.68
Difference = $553.04

The rack rate per night for Holiday Season is $484/night
The rack rate per night for Value Season is $304/night

rack rate for 4 nights in holidays season (garden view) is $2158 (with tax).

Rack rate for 8 nights during value season (garden view) with tax is $2711.

Rack rate during holiday season is $484 for a garden view...."only" $304 during value season.

We found the same thing.....garden view concierge is $595 during holiday season. No AAA discount available. (A total of $663 per night)

We are pulling our kids out of school a few days early before Xmas (I already asked their teachers if it's okay!) and are paying $388 per night, with tax, for garden view concierge.

It makes a big difference!!

The packages I got quotes on were identacle, meaning they were both for the basic room and both had 7 day passes included.

ANOTHER QUESTION

Since this is now value season, I assume I will not have to pay rack rates. That there will probably be additional discounts available to make this deal even better, such as AAA or annual pass.

Make sure the system is not changing room types on you. I was playing around with it earlier today, and the more days I added, the "lower" the room type offered!!!
