This 4-for-7 deal is really confusing me - can someone wiser to WDW help me out?

I'm new, so new! I have scanned the threads on the 4-for-7 deal and I still have some questions...

1st and foremost, I thought I read that for those who are annual passholders (which I would like to be, with a Seasonal Annual Pass,as we will be moving to FL before the end of the year), can apply the tickets they get in the package toward their AP... which I don't really understand, but left me wondering if I only bought 2 days of tickets, could I put the price of them (sell them back to WDW) toward the purchase of an SAP for each of us? This seems a bit too good to be true...but I just wanted to make sure! :rolleyes1

Can you even book this deal without tickets? Because I am thinking that if we have to buy tickets, we wouldn't be saving any $$. Except for the $200 giftcard which seems heavenly IF you can use that to pay for food/ table service meals in the parks. Can you? *sigh*.

Okay, maybe I should do give you all the details and you can tell me if it sounds like this is a 'deal' for our family at all.

Family of 4 - 2 adults, 1 three year-old, 1 one year-old.
- As we are about to become FL residents, I intend to buy everyone 3 & up a Seasonal Annual Pass.
- And since we're about to become FL residents with passes, we don't *need* to stay a long time - we'll only live about 3 hrs away. This is not a do-or-die vacay for us. It just happens to be the way I want to spend my 30th b-day! (this is the only place I could ever say that and not feel like a total dork! ) Anyway, 5 days would certainly be enough. But d'ya get any deal at all that way?

So yeah. If you've gotten this far, good for you! If you have an answer, good for me! Thanks in advance from the supernewbie!! :grouphug:

Welcome!

Yes, you have to buy passes for the deal, but you can buy everyone in your party one-day passes instead of 4 day if you want.

People here are saying that you can buy a 4-day pass, which would be upgraded to 7 days. After one day of using it, you can then add the $$ difference to the AP and turn it into an AP. I dont know if this applies to FL resident passes or not.

This deal is really a package deal with a rebate on the hotel stay. The pass rebate is $9 per adult, hardly a big deal. Because it's a hotel rebate, the more $$$ you spend on your resort the more $$$ you save. So it may or may not be worth it to you, depending on how much $$$ you will save.

Plus, there are FL resident discounts, AP discounts, etc. out there that may be better deals for you.

I think you should price it as a room-only (and see if you can get an AP discount for your days) then compare the price to the package deal.

Good luck -- I've been running the numbers all weekend & I'm getting tired of it!:sad2:

Dude, I know - after I posted this, I pulled up the calculator and did all sorts of math!! Thanks for your reply, mmmears! I think I am giving too much credit to the $200 gift card - it would be great to have that to apply to our season passes. The way I worked it out last night was through another poster's deal:

"2 adults 1 child
had to buy 2 adults base tickets/1 child ticket
7 nights @ pop standard
$795.35
$200 giftcard that will go towards our upgrade to an AP along with the park tickets!(we also have our park ticket left over from a FD trip we are using towards the AP and a disney reward card.

so, we this was a great deal for us future AP holders!"

I thought, oooh, snap - $800 bucks for 7 nights at WDW that would give us $492 ($200 card + $150 in adult tickets + $67 in a kid ticket + $75 gift card for my birthday) to throw at the cost of our APs. Looking at that, it's clearly too good to be true. I am sure someone can shoot me down on such dreamy math! :cloud9: But by all means, if I am right - :cool2:

I can't speak for the AP rate question, but I can answer what you can use the gift card for since I spent over 45 mins on the phone with a CM trying to get some explanations today.

She said that the gift card is an actual gift card that they hand you and you can not apply the $200 towards your room charges. (I have seen other posts saying that the $200 could be applied as a credit to your room.) The CM said you can't use the gift card towards food but you could use it towards tips??

Now, if they hand you a $200 gift card to spend, I don't know how they will know how you got it, but thats what I was told.
