We are thinking of a vowel renewal on DCL and were wondering if anyone could give us any suggestions or ideas. I'be been combing this thread but it's a little difficult to really find anything out about VR. I see lots of wedding information. Do most people have lots of guests at their VR ceremony? We have cruised twice on DCL. Our 1st was a 4 night on the Wonder and we met a really nice family from England (they were our tablemates). We enjoyed one another so much that we rebooked for a 7N Western which was last November and then rebooked for this October for the 7N Eastern with one another once again. We would love for them to be a part of this with us. I highly doubt we'll get our families to go though. could anyone help me out at all with any information? I would so greatly appreciate it.

Please forgive me, but I can't help it - why are you renewing A E I O U and sometimes Y?;)

The only big difference that I know of is that VRs are a bit less expensive than the weddings and you can have the captain do the ceremony instead of a local from one of the islands.

There are not many choices and you don't have a lot of control - thats the only thing I have against it (and we are still considering it for our wedding). I think its really great for a VR if you want something easy.

If your group is going to be small then I would say it would be great to invite as many people as you need to in order to have btw 12 and 14 adults so that you can use the little palo room for dinner.

I think some people have VRs with no one except themselves and some people invite tons of people and have a bigger group. Its really up to you.

Thanks for all the replies and help.

MegKate...Not really sure what you're saying...I'm assuming your asking why? Why do most people renew their vows? I'm just asking?

We're thinking of a DCL Vow Renewal too! The link WishingMom posted is great--tons of helpful information. As for the number of guests--some people have a very intimate VR and some have lots of guests, I think it's whatever you want. If we do a VR (DCL or otherwise), I'm 99% sure it'll just be us and our daughter. For us, that'll be perfect and allow us to do it "our way."

That's so nice that you met up with another family that you like to cruise with. Sounds like having them with you on a VR cruise would be fun!

Good luck with your plans:goodvibes.

We're doing a vow renewal this year, and it will be just us and our children. Like others have said, you can do it however you like- lots of guests, a few, or none!

What she meant was the difference between: VOW and VOWEL. Seems a common typo!

I had a laugh because on my reservation it is noted that I am having a 'vowel renewal' under what we are celebrating. I unfortunately can't get in to change it!! I hope others assume what the woman typing it in meant! LOL!

OMG....how stupid can I be??? Now I get it...A E I O U....
I didn't even realize that I had typed "Vowel Renewal" :rotfl:

we are doing our VOW renewal ;) on DCL in December!! We were originally going to do it on the beach in CC, but $$ forced us to change to Deck 7 on Nassau Day. We have 14 guests coming with us.

Check out that thread...it has lots of helpful information!

You called it a VOWEL renewal. Get it?

TOTALLY GO FOR IT!

MANY DCL VR's these days! Jennifer is doing one, I know there are a few others on this site too.

They're very similar to the weddings on DCL. Only difference is the price (VRs are $1,000 less I believe) and the ceremony is a VR ceremony script instead of a wedding script.

You can have as many or as few guests as you want! The only constraint is that you have to have 20 guests or less for an event on the "secret" Deck 7 area, and 100 or less for Castaway Cay (CC) or the lounges. For every 10 guests above the 20 mark (I think that's including you and groom) you pay an extra $100.

Well, heck I missed post 8, so I'm not all that much better (but I'm a redhead!) :rotfl:

We did the DCL renewal and it was amazing!

I loved the simplicity of the package..

I met my bridesmaids and all our guests (except my mother!) on the 2005 DCL Halloween cruise..we had a thread here on Dis and became friends..we have vacationed together several times since then.

My signature has a trip report link and a short video clip...enjoy!

DisneyDumbNut...those pictures were beautiful!! Now I know I have to try to make this happen!!!

I'm a little late here, but MegKate - your posts always make me :lmao:

I am doing VR in Dec. too! It will just be me, my DH, and our 2 kids. We are then going to have a big party a few months down the road at home where we are going to have a "blessing" performed and a fun family party afterwards. Hopefully you can go this route. Good Luck!!!:thumbsup2
