Hi, If I am staying at WDW as a DVC member on points and go down to Vero Beach for the day are we allowed use of the pool and or beach area?? Thanks, Joan

You have to have a room ID to open the gate to the pool and to the beach. I can't imagine why you would want to drive 90 miles via a toll way to swim at a not that great beach. Staying overnight, yes. Day trip, no.

People have often asked this. When you go on the Members site and click on the Pool Hopping, this is what it says:
Whenever you are staying on your Membership at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney's Vero Beach Resort, or The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you and any Guests staying with you, are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World® Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity

Now this mentions VB, and it seems to me that people have posted doing exactly what the OP is asking. However, during the summer months VB's pool is probably at capacity.
The beach is free to anyone, and there's a small state park beach adjacent to the VB property that has lifeguards, so you may feel safer swimming just north of VB.

Thank You. :thumbsup2 We have been to WDW MANY times (DVC members since 1993) but have never ventured to Vero Beach. Since it is just me and DH this trip (early March) I was thinking it would be fun to visit Vero Beach. Joan

we've done it for the day as well. Just DH and I for a day trip to check it out. We try to visit each DVC resort to see it we might like to stay there. We told the front desk that we were there for the day and they gave us one key card that worked for the gate. Beach is not great but the pool was wonderful. I'm glad we did it.

We went to vero for the day last summer to see if we would like it. We called first to make sure it was ok and went to the front desk when we got in. It was fine. The drive felt long. My daughter had fun in the pool but the beach was much too steep for her. I was glad to be able to check it out for the future. It's worth the drive if you want to try it out before booking a vacation there.
